Title: Totally Blue It! Vol 7 Ed Ellis Magic
Medium: DVD Arena: Close up Available: Any shop, distributed by Murphys Magic Supplies Ed Ellis is a pro out of Ohio who is known as the worlds fastest magician who has released some killer magic over the last few years. He continues his winning streak by releasing Totally Blue It, a color changing deck routine. The DVD itself is of the high quality standard we expect from Ed, good camera work, excellent editing and the full use of the tools available, and the sound is good throughout. Ed does an excellent job in presenting and explaining the material and while in essence a one trick DVD he adds value to it so it comes across as much more than the feature trick. In this case the extras consist of a really good color change, the best card up nose I’ve seen, and a very good cards from mouth. You also get to learn how to spring cards and some new ideas that apply to Ed’s previous DVDs, for example an add on for the routine You Blew It. There is also a discussion by Ed on magic being entertaining. The feature routine, Totally Blue It, is, as stated, a color changing deck. This is actually the best color changing deck I’ve seen because the convincers are able to stay on the fine line of being too subtle and being too overt. What you end up is a deck that is freely handled and your spectators will be convinced you have a completely red backed deck without you having to say “hey look, it is a red backed deck”. The change is top notch and, for me, the original color change took some practice. I performed the routine using an older color change for the selection but when I’m comfortable will switch over to the flutter change used by Ed because it looks better. I’m not at the point where I’m ready to change yet but I’m getting there. It is a very nice routine and one that will make the spectator take a gasp once they see the change. You can easily get to the point where you can use the deck for other effects, you are not stuck in a position where you need to switch decks or anything. You could actually do this strolling as most of the routine is in the hands. This is very good card magic mixed in with some fun and value adding material. If you see anything with the name Ed Ellis on it pick it up and you’ll have something worth working on and performing. Well done to Ed and crew. |

For those interested I would recommend checking out ed ellis' full set! He has some great material on each! Good effects. I have his castle routine as well as you blue it and both are very good.
