Too many cups can not be defined by the magician, but seems rather by the magicians spouse.

I've got a set of Gali Gali cups, which I love. I've got a set of Gazzo cups, which I've only used once so far in performance, and loved. I whouldn't mind, actually, having a set of Gazzo's old cups with the smaller top that only holds one ball in attic. My routiens don't employ multiple balls in the attic and I think the small top would make the final loads look that much bigger by contrast when they're sitting atop the cops. Anybody know where Gazzo's old cups can be found? Thanks.
Jim

James,
Maybe Gary has a set of the old tops. If not, I guess that this would be the best place to ask that question. So beyond James' situation, can you really have too many sets of Cups. Ask my ex wives... ...it did'nt bother them one bit!!!! Seriously, I have a few sets and as most state, there is something about them that becomes habit forming. I can think of a lot of other things that are more undesireable to collect. Enjoy!! Vincent |

Since I started this off, I might add to the discussion.
I DID buy the GAZZO's - they DID feel like flowerpots, but I've adapted and the load size can be stunning! Just back from Blackpool convention, UK. FWIW, Bosco style cups by HARRIES have been mentioned in other threads, and were on display at convention, I like the shape and size but they are very light in weight compared to both ANIMAL and GAZZO cups. Nice dumpy set of cups on display at Keith Bennet's Stand. Pictured here http://www.kbmagic.co.uk/tricks.htm cheers Brendan |

Hello To All,
I just received a set of the Gazzo Respins in today's mail. These are very large cups. Much larger than I anticipated but very comforting in heft and feel. These are the seconds and I have to say that they look great!! I'd like to see how perfect their first run cups are if these are the seconds. Anyway, I have some work to do in getting used to the new size as I've previously only worked with Johnson Cups, Charlie Miller Cups and Mini Copper Cups that I bought at Tannens when Noah was still stocking the Arc. Just wanted to share a little. Thanks, Vincent |

Greetings and Salutations Vincent,
I've got a set of firsts and a set of second respins. Got the second respins as a travel/practice set, and use them more often that the firsts! The only real difference is in the tops, where you may be able to discern the ridge from the old tops, it'll look like a thin black ring inside the new tops. I've helped spin metal before, and, as the seconds were polished when I got them, the rings were nearly invisible. I thought Gary had made a mistake and sent me firsts! They're starting to patina-up nicely now, and the rings are more obvious but as we are the only ones that know the rings are not supposed to be there, and the tops are generally not pointed out, I doubt a spectator would be able to tell the difference between the two sets. Enjoy your new purchase, they'll take a pretty good beating. Joe in KC Live a great adventure, make magic happen! |

Joe,
Thanks much for the information. Not a day goes by on this forum when I don't learn something new. I've just looked again at the cups and see what you mean. However for my purposes and budget at present these will do nicely. I've been looking for some large cups with some weight to them and I believe that I have found them. Some time down the line I will see if I feel I need another set but for now these are great. I have a lot of work ahead of me readjusting to the new size. Big difference from the types of cups I have been working with in the past. But I'm a big guy and I think the larger size cups are more appropriate and fit closer to proportion and scale. Thanks again for your time and the info. All The Best, Vincent |

Respins disappeared quite rapidly about a year ago. I suppose the only sources now are from owners, if you can find one willing to part with a set.

I know that doesn't help people who come into the game later. You can get some good deals on both styles of Gazzo cup, as well as others at http://www.magicpitch.com.

No, you won't see respins on the site. The message you're reading is over a year old. These were offered only for a very short time as they were converting to the new cup style. These respins were made from the remaining stock of the old cups. It's too bad as I believe the original design was esthetically better.
Before he took a break from cup making, Gary Animal produced a run of "small top" cups in one or two sizes. Now, all that is available is being sold on his behalf by his friends at http://www.magicpitch.com I've heard Gary has been working on a new design, but for now if you want any of his cups you have to contact Magic Pitch and see what's left.

That's right. The respins have been sold out for a long time. Go to the magicpitch site and click on "shop." You will find listings for products there.

Well, I put "magicpitch.com" on my favorites list under magic dealers.
If and when I have money to spare on magic again. (and "if" seems to be the operating word these days) I'm certainly going to look into several of the books and DVDs. Cup wise, I use a set of aluminum cups my wife bought me at a magic shop in Vegas. They replaced a set of _plastic_ cups I bought myself at iParty!
