Sorry for the vague post title guys. I am a purist. I hate using shells, flippers, dups etc. I believe that everything that can be done with a dup or gaff can be done impromtu and I usualy try and make it work. But just recently, I received a manuscript by my top favorite coin magi (No names ) and I couldn't resist. I love the routine and the flexibility in the routine so much that I am willing to make the investment into a flipper. I am however looking for a flipper that is decent in quality (I have never owned one before, therefore I won't know if I'm getting a total piece of crap for my money) that is fairly inexpensive (no more than $25) that has good instructions and at least teaches an effect or two.

Hey Mark, If you're going to do Mr. Eclectic, get a good flipper. I recently did a job where I performed a variation of this effect at every single group I went to. It'd be worth it to get a good one. Sadly my best recommendation is going from one of the top guys, lassen or schoolcraft.

There a ton of info on flippers just a thread away. For $25 don't expect much more than junk. Most gravitys take more work than a standard flipper and will
cost a little more. Tom |

I'm not looking for the highest quality coin, all I really want is something that looks like a half dollar, has decent instructions, and I can practice with for now.

Talk to Tim Feher, he uses a standard inexpensive one with great results.

Johnson makes a decent flipper for about $35 I think. I wouldn't go anyplace but up from there!

Actually, I have two Tango (Kennedy) flippers and they're pretty decent (and cheap, too). I've performed for a lot of different people with them, and nobody has ever been the wiser. I picked up some Walking Liberties a couple of weeks ago, though, and now I'm itching to get my hands on a few Schoolcraft or Lassen gaffs (or possibly Swadling, the inventor of the flipper coin, from JB magic; they have a nice flipper & shell set). Anyways, if you want a decent cheap flipper, then I'd suggest Tango or Johnson (or maybe Kueppers); if you want the best flipper, then you should just make the investment and buy Schoolcraft or Lassen.
