This tube has a mechanism within that catches the inserted silk and winds it as the pulled silk is produced. eliminating the push/pull method. I hope this isn't exposing too much. thanks for your help

Several variations on this theme (with various names) are shown in the "Rice Encyclopedia of Silk Magic," Volume 2, beginning on Page 713. None of them were very successful, being prone to hanging up mid-pull, damaging the silk, etc.

Thanks for the quick answer. what I was really wondering is if these might be available commercially and if some one could tell me the name, so that I might purchase one. thanks again

I think that Mikame brought something like this out. A gimmick called "Mikame's colorchanging Silk winder" or something like this.

Oliver.

Warning, these are hard on silks! Make sure your silk has a very good hem. Serger hems (the ones that look like the edge of a wash cloth with wrapped thread) don't add strength. You can be embarrassed at the wrong moment.

"Tube" is still the best concept

PS --- If you have to build your own, consider the wands that vanish silks. Of course, they wreck them too. (Why should I complain? I'm the magicians' silk importer. Replace your silks often!)

Norm Nielsen had one on the market that was just a quick color change that worked pretty well. It was a small short tube.
