Seriously, I was shocked when I saw this post on a blog while searching for neo magnets for a routine.
I know we read all the warnings and ignore them plenty but sometimes a picture is worth a thous and words and this one is a gory one so don't look if you are squeemish... http://www.cupsandballsmagic.com/Health-Warning!.html |

Whew!
I'm now wondering if these magnets are detrimental to magnetic coding on credit/debit cards. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . (Just kidding.)

These are not magnets, these are "bricks". Of course they will crushed your fingers...

How could you not know that a brick-size magnet could be dangerous??
It's a brick-size magnet for crying out loud LOL! |

Well I was thinking of fitting one to a chop cup so do you think that's a bad idea after all?

Nasty business all around!
Once I got a broken shard of Neodymium flicked into my eye when two marble sized magnets collided on me. Made me think twice before playing with those things so cavalierly. And don't even get me started on what happened to my old grandad and his pacemaker...

I've seen a paper clip sail 5 feet across a table, to a small neodymium magnet. I've very careful how I handle these things. But, then again, I've worked in industrial environments and I'm very conscious of what can go wrong. If the magnets are larger than a centimeter across, I'm very careful.

Well on the plus side, you'd only have to put a single iron filing in your ball. Think of the savings on ball shims!

Oh, I get it now - if you swallow one and walk by another magnet it would be like a gunshot. I'll have to remember not to do that.........

Those are some scary powerful magnets. Probably make you sterile if ya stand too close.
Okay, probably not, but still scary strong. |

Hay I ve played about with some strong magnets and dam it dangerous These type can shatter producing small dust particals. Its good to wrap them in a thin foam and use electric tape to cover it all fully.
Hay this stuff is fun but lets keep safe. Want something fun to play with watch the3 video for full effect http://www.grand-illusions.com/acatalog/Gaussian_Gun.html
Enjoy your magic,
and let others enjoy it as well! |

Wow. I keep thinking of those horseshoe magnets in the cartoons that would make knives fly across the room and chase Tom (the cat) or someone. Yikes.
On the other hand, and proof that I'll never learn, I have to order one of those Gaussian Guns!

This is the type of magnet I play with everyday..sponge ball routines are not a problem in this room (minus the magic purse) , Stopping watches is some really easy mentalism too. The Ninja Rings would be a real show stopper however, as security would be escorting the newly fired magician to his car.

There was a surplus store in Oklahoma City I used to buy super magnets from. One day a guy bought two super magnets to play with. First he pinched a blood blister on one of his fingers when the magnets snapped together. Then after he struggled for some time to get them apart, he said he didn’t wand them to get together again and before we could say anything, he put one in either front pocket of his kaki slacks. The magnet met in front with a dull snap we all immediately knew the results.
I’m sure it was a mix of pain and embarrassment that led to tears running down this grown man’s face and it did garner the sympathy of every one there. At the time the situation was pretty serious and no one laughed. The man almost went into shock and he did bleed enough to show trough his kakis. It’s been a long time ago but I think we talked him into going to the ER but not sure. If it had not been so serious it might have been funny but even now it’s had to laugh after witnessing it first person.
Our friends don't have to agree with me about everything and some that I hold very dear don't have to agree about anything, except where we are going to meet them for dinner.
