I was just wondering if those that are Selling Items here on the Café' could inform the powers that be to remove your item(s) once it has been sold. It really is a pain trying to PM people for Magic Effects only to find out that they have been sold. Even when you mark your item as sold please contact the Magic Café via Report This Post and check the box that says other and ask them to delete your post as your item has been sold. This only takes a few seconds to do and then they will remove your item promptly. I do this on everything that I sell so my posts do not take up needless space on the For Sale Sections of the Café'
Thank You as your anticipated cooperation will be greatly appreciated. Rodney

An edit button would work perfectly....You can put "SOLD" in the header...Done...

Maybe I'm wrong about "buy/sell/trade" posts, but, I don't believe that you can edit any post after someone has responded to the post or after 1/2 hour has elapsed...whichever first occurs.

That's what I mean....I am sure administratively that could be changed...

All you do is click on the Post and where is states Quote, PM, Profile, and Report this Post. If you click Report this Post you can go in and click on OTHER on the right hand side and type in a small message such as This has been Sold and the Café' Moderators will delete your post for you in a very timely manner.

I love the Café, and don't want this to be taken wrong, but I think in some ways they are stuck in their particular rut.
It is very hard to get changes made, even if you have a viable idea. I hope the Café brass re-evaluate. They were, at one time, on the cusp of technology, but they are falling way behind. Time to kick it in the arse, or whatever will be allowed...

Why would a forum with over 38,000 members make any changes just because a few guys think something might need changing?
Why must your idea be considered valid, or instituted simply because you typed it into your computer? |

Guys, thanks Terry for linking to the sticky topic. Many of our members do exactly what it says.
All posts in the let's make a deal forum are deleted 15 days after the original post so there is a small window where a sold item could still appear. There are two ways to handle sold topics efficiently. First, as mentioned above, just use the bad post report button. You click on that and type "sold". I take care of that almost immediately. Secondly, you can post a reply in your topic saying "sold". Normally after deleting the topics that have reached 15 days, I go back and delete all those that have a sold reply. This isn't always done right away but I try to keep as up to date as possible. These are the best ways to get a topic removed. The tech folks are only here part time as are the rest of the staff and making a program change isn't always as easy as it sounds. Not all members are as honest as those that have posted here and allowing a member to edit their own post after a reply has been made can lead to problems. An edit function allows changes to not only the title but to the entire post. A change in the original post could change the response validity of others. Allowing the edit would not reduce key strokes by the member. You'd click edit, type "sold" click submit. Using the present system, you click on bad post, type "sold" and click submit. Since the time frame for deletions is small, it isn't worth a program change.
