I was wondering if there was a good book on knots. One that is good for beginners.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Mina

I can recommend The Ultimate Encyclopedia of Knots and Ropework by Geoffrey Budworth. Step by step instructions for over 200 knots, clear photos, plus a lot of good information on types of rope etc.

Hi Mina
Try these webpages. http://www.realknots.com/knots/index.htm and... http://www.earlham.edu/~peters/knotlink.htm The first one in particular has loads of different knots and good instructions. If you know anyone that does any climbing get them to show you these three knots: ***The reef (which you probably already know)*** ***The figure eight*** ***The double figure eight*** The double figure eight makes a loop which is almost impossible to open under force, but simple to open once force is removed. And with a couple of simple knots added to the end it is pretty much impossible to open by accident. It is the knot that many climbers trust their lives to. Indeed I have trusted my life to it many times. It is also real easy to learn. Hope this helps. David Straitjacket
