Bauhaus, "Hollow Hills" and "Bela Lugosi's Dead"
The sound quality isn't fantastic on these, but you get the idea:

This one is more chaotic, but awesome:

Since I'm thinking of Bauhaus, check out this Peter Murphy song:

Siouxsie and the Banshees: "Love Out Me"

This one isn't exactly what you are talking about, but it always does it for me,
Iggy Pop: "The Passenger"

This is more your thing, I think:

Wow, no one has said DJ shadow or DJ Krush yet, I'm stunned. I would check them out. Brilliant for what you are suggesting (although try to go for the earlier stuff).

All I can say is "wow"!
The muso in me loves listening to all this - particularly liked TGTBATQ and enjoyed Bowie cut to the film a LOT.
I mentioned Nox arcana in my original post, and egregor mentioned to me that they have a new pirate/seadawg based CD; there are some great jigs and shanties on there in their own style.

If anyone else has suggestions please let me know - I promise to listen to everything mentioned at least twice!

Thanks again all

My mystery tune was solved - see "In a house post..."

There was another one I got obsessed with...
...the zombie music from Call of Duty: World at war - called "Lullaby for a dead man": http://www.muziboo.com/goldkiller19/musi......dead-man

Does anyone have a non-vocal version of this?
