Some advice please. I want to do a one man hypnosis show.
I do NOT want a catcher or someone doing my music. Rather I want to do it all on my own. Can someone advise on controlling the music please? ie: is there a remote way of doing this? many thanks, bobser. ps: please try NOT to give advice on whether or not a catcher or other music helper should be used, thanks.

I went to see David Knight in the Midlands a while back. He does a one man show uses music in nearly all of his routines and handled it very well. You might want to contact him for some advice.

Many thanks. I've emailed Davey and am now quietly sitting here having a gentle sherry, awaiting his reply.
And I'll have a peep at the virtual soundman system too. Ta.

Virtual Sound Man. It IS the way to go.
It gives you the freedom to be able to put routines in different orders, lengthen them, shorten them, or whatever you like.

MOst of us here in UK use a Sony InfraRed remote control mini-disc player.
Using the long play option you can fit up to over 4 hrs of tracks on one disc and then using the infra red remote you can personally start, stop and pause any track gain instant access to tracks in whatever order you want to ad lib them on the night and allcan be controlled by you as and when you want even froma great distance from the mini disc player. Best of all Richer Sounds sell them for around £130 so much cheaper than anything else which does so much on the market. |

HI Bobser
Thanks for the PM heres the link to the mini disc player/recorder that I use with infra red remote control http://www.richersounds.com/showproduct.......DSJE480S They also do them in black at this link: http://www.richersounds.com/showproduct.......E480-BLK They are currently on sale at: £89-95 which is a bargain. Just double check it has the infra red remote control, should have as I have this model and bought it from this company (Richer Sounds) and it enables me to do everything mentioned on my earlier post. I also know that Chris Lee and several other hypnotists use this model for their one man shows, as do most of the Singers and acts on the Northern Club Circuit. Hope that helps Stuart |

Oh and if you then go to a B&Q DIY warehouse you can buy a Flight CaseStye tool box for about £20 which is the perfect size for tansporting the mini disc unit to and from shows.
It looks professional and can be put on your table at show with the mini disc resting on top of it to give it a little extra hieght and make it easier to use the infra red remote control from a distance. |

Radio MIke Wise I've used for many years and reccomend this unit:
http://www.sessionmusic.co.uk/products/j......stem.asp It does everything a £3K Senheiser (spelt wrong) does and yet at above link is only £299 - indeed on Ebay and some online stores you can get then for around £200 brand new! The anti-feedback feature is invaluable and without doubt this is the best radio mike I've ever had the pleasure to use after 30 years in this crazy business we call show. |

PA and speakers wise here is the system I reccomend....
Watch the video at this link of how portable (fits in boot of any car) light and easy to set up his system is here: http://www.bose.com/controller?event=VIE......usicians And then find more technical details and such here: http://www.bose.com/controller?url=/shop......ndex.jsp And this: http://www.absolutemusic.co.uk/shop/view......se044744 The system takes upnext to no space at the venue thus meaning even in small venues thereis not loads of gear in the way and you have more space to perform and best of all its so powerful with great clarity that they have even been used in the Royal Albert Hall which I feel speaks for itself. As a hypnoist our voice and sound is by far the most important thing and boy does this unit make you sound good. And no I'mnot on any comission, just offering some sincere friendly advice from my own personal experinece for those who may find it useful. |

And for those who like a fancy professional looking backdrop at their shows hows about having something which packs small, sets up quickly and bears COLOUR or B/W images of you and logos relevant to your brand.
These collapable roller blind style signs are all the rage in the corporate arena, look great in all venues and make you look like an act that deserves a higher fee... Examples of what I mean can be found here, my local company do them at just under £150 each and one either side of the performance area in front of a Stage Style Tabs (Curtains) setting gives the whole professional theatre atmosphere which helps you to charge more and have a better show thru to ambience. https://displays-2-go.co.uk/index.php?ma......d64f0875 |

And heres a link for the main portable backdrop so it looks like your doing a theatre show in any venue you go to.....
http://www.spider-evoflex.com/index.php?......h0hef5e4 Personally I paid the extra and as such the panels on the left and right hand sides of the unit have small fibre optics white lights in which fade up and down during the pre-show overture music and help set the correct scene |

And last but not least you'll need a distinctive Stage Costume, one of the places I've used in the past and know that Ken Webster (Hypnotist from Blackpool) reccomends is Pelican Stage Wear who exhibit at many UKMagic conventions...
http://www.pelicanstagewear.org/introduction.html They don't have much choice on their webiste but contact them and they can get pretty much ANYTHING you want and at the right price! |

There are many great portable sound systems available. I would suggest looking at large professional musical instrument store. Respectfully, PW, I would say that anything from Bose is overpriced. We have a saying about their products: No highs? No lows? It must be Bose. Good small portable systems for much less money and with more features can be had from Kustom, Fender, Peavey, and others.

With respect you getwhat you pay for - show me a system as quick to set up, as easy to pack down, as light to carry and as easy and small to transport which cna be used in the smallest of venues taking tiny amounts of space and even works excellent (heard and sounds well) in the Royal Albert Hall....
I'll stick with mwhat I'm using thanks... I've used Portable Peaveys and a half decent amp of their which is only 300 watts max almost weights more than this system and that's without thinking of speakers.. |

Remember guys my initial post was enquiring on a 'remote way of achieving this'.
We've since strayed a little bit on qualatitive products. This I don't need help with but thanks all the same. The truth is in the modern world there's hardly anything BAD out there. But someone in the know would, for example, never even dream of using a Gibson amp (Brilliant for guitar) for a public address system. I think this is an area you either know or you absoutely do not. Thanks anyway to all who contributed. bobser

PW, I've never suggested that you shouldn't stick with what you're using. If you enjoy it, use it.
I would suggest that other people can go to a large professional music store and get much better quality for a lower price. Don't take my word or PW's word for it. In the end, it's going to be your ears that count, not mine or PWs. Compare and figure out what meets your needs. |
