Alright Dan... since you are here posting on my thread...
When you do the lifesavers trick... Don't chew it up. Swallow it whole. If you chew it up, it becomes this chewed and restored lifesaver trick. So which is it? A C&R lifesaver trick or pulling out of your throat trick. It doesn't make any sense when you chew it up. Now what you like to do is the opposite, and that's fine. But don't do it here, let it make sense. Randi |

Hi Randi, noted, and you're not the first to bring this up. Why can't it be both? I think you'll have to see it live to get it. There is a reason why I chew it, trust me, I've done it both ways just for the heck of it.

For Randi, Jackstevens, MagicSanta and any other magi that still don't get it, read this perspective on Dan's Lifesaver routine:

What makes you think I don't get it? Man, these Sperridians are troublesome, no wonder Dan wears that make up. I bet after the show he rushes off to get into a nice blue suit.

Dan,
I liked seeing your act on the World Magic Awards! I'm looking forward to seeing you in Louisville on April 5th since I'm doing the pre-show walk-around w/ the Louisville Magic Club! With you and Mike Finney in the same show, it's looking to be a don't miss event! And its for a good cause too! |

Another example of a character who looks one way and acts another is Hagrid in the Harry Potter movies.
He looks like a biker but then he's a completely nice guy! People love him. |

I knew Krysten could do it!
The ring routine was great. It was pretty, nicely executed, and you didn't look like teenage chearleader. You looked like a beautiful magical woman. Notice how the audience loved it? Stick with that style!! Randi |

Krystens rings were great tonight! Much different style than the WMA's in '07.

I love how everyone here is an expert. How about letting people work on their own art?
I didn't come here to tell you how this is going to end...
I came here... To tell you how this is going to begin. |

I also thought Kysten's rings were outstanding.

The street magic was good, Levent had me in stitches, Mac King was great as usual, Rick Thomas' new illusion was very good, the editing was not as bad as usual. The only thing that upsets me is the music. The use bits and pieces from the same 5 songs to make a bunch of different ones, I heard part of Jeff McBrides music from the WMA 4 times so far in MOI. I think they even used one exact piece twice! Even with the show show having the problems everyone complains about, I still love seeing some new faces in magic on TV.

Last night I finally watched a bit of masters of illusion.
I tuned in to see Dan Sperry produce a dead goldfish and then change it to a live one...the performance was choppy and amatuerish and unscripted but not terrible- I like his stage pieces a lot more. The next thing I remember was a Mentalist who performed a "Mad Libs" routine. I have seen this effect before- only this time the T.V. coverage made it even more impossible- we never got to see where the envelope was hiding in the beginning. Overall this was out of the box mentalism- very trivial. Next up (I think) was a young man in a sweat shirt with a Tom Petty haircut who performed the sponge bunnies with all the zeal of a demonstrator at a flea market. Again amatuerish. Then came Rick Thomas who performed an illusion that consisted of vanishing or squeezing a pretty female assistant into nothingness. Nothing wrong with this illusion but what was up with the bird? Before the illusion started a bird flew from the assistant to the magician and back. This took place again at the end of the piece. Why? The only other thing I remember was a gentleman who performed a decent Zombie routine- nothing wrong with this performance at all- but then the secret was revealed on the Masked Magician only moments later? Did the producers conspire to make this guy feel like fifty cents? I'm thinking I must have missed a lot of great magic at the beginning? At least I hope so, this show is uninspiring and trivial. It makes me embarased to call myself a magician.

I saw her do that at WMS a few weeks ago and was blown away. I love when she does the lean while spinning the ring. It's a beautiful touch.

No no no... please Disney go away. Those kid shows are horrible!! Those kid stars will be washouts by the time they reach their 30's. Randi |
