Does anyone use this product or have any idea if it works? 'The Juice' ad says it's for marking cards with marks invisible yet can be seen accross the room.

Anyone have a review of this? Thanks. http://www.pe.net/~magical/roddy/juice.htm

I emailed the creator of Juice in February and, as noted below, this product wasn't going to be available for a while:

"Thanks very much for your note. Unfortunately, however, we are not able to supply the Juice at this time. We had problems with our supply and have not come up with a suitable replacement yet. I will file your email and let you know when we are able to provide the Juice again. I apologize for any inconvenience this is for you and your act."

If you can see the marking why not the layman.

AND

And Juice applied to any surface ?

Can anyone explain this to me..

Thanks

I know of two types of card marking called juice (or at least that is what they were called to me). The one I believe this is referring to is what it says-you see it, they don't. You have to be trained in a certain way to see it. And to some extent, the closer you are the more impossible it is for an untrained person to see.

It is VERY hard to see unless you know what to do to see it. Much less read it.

PS, if this is the same thing I am referring to, it isn't good for marking a full deck by card...

I'd be interested to know who afknight thinks the creator of "Juice" is....

I think he was referring to the URL in the first post. He probably emailed the person who is selling that specific "juice"...

I see. Well, for the record, "juice" is an age old term referring to dozens of chemical mixtures designed to cut various types of card stock and finishes.

If you need a marked deck, I recommend getting a Ted Lesley or Boris Wild hookup for magic. Both are excellent systems.

The "Juice" may be a fun product to buy and toy with but good juice is very hard to do (and the current methods are not widely known). Be aware that poorly prepared juice can often create an odour or look like someone has been handling fried chicken before using the deck.

Yeah, there is no need to apply chemicals to a deck in magic. There are many better ways, there are marketed marked decks which are good, or memorized decks.

Of course you could wear orange glasses wherever you go if you really want to.

I used to make my own "juice" years ago... used an Isopropyl alcohol base.
Wasn't difficult. But I got out of magic for about 10 years and when I got back into it, my juice didn't work too well any more. I know that sounds crazy, but the only thing I can think of is that the playing card manufacturers have changed the make-up of the card coating in some small way.

Hi,

If you want to get "juice," it is available from Stevens Magic. They have had a long history of selling gambling equipment/supplies.

Have a good one,

Are the marks supposed to be visible with out, um, 'altering' your eyes??

If I make them any less then I can't see them at all when I 'look' at them.
but when they are enough to see when I 'look' then I am also able to make them out without 'looking', while I am still looking at the right spot(s) and it's not like they jump out, I can just still make them out slightly with out 'looking' properly so to speak.
It's amazing, people will criticize you for "biting the hand that feeds you," while they're busy praising the hand that beats them.

The juice works best with a particular card back and yes it can be read from across the room. I have yet to find a layman that can read it.

Juice is a chemical applied to cards. Many types are available. I takes a trained eye to see it. Applied properly, you can't really "see" it as much as get an impression it's there. Individual cards cannot be read, rather you see
combinations of lines or dots and can only tell the numbers. I have mamufactured 100's of decks for Steven's Magic on behalf of Dr. X. For magicians purposes, juice IS NOT the answer! It can be difficult to read, is often read from across the room easier than it is close up. You need decent lighting as well. What you're seeing is a dulling of the light reflecting off the card where the chemical was applied. J

I heard you can use Tide laundry detergent as "juice". Watch out though, it is visible under a black light.
