Hey guys,

I wanted to let everyone know that Don Driver is in the hospital. He was having some breathing problems and overall not feeling good, so he went to the hospital on Friday. He was admitted with some pneumonia and he ended up having a heart attack in the hospital. He was in the ICU for 2 days and is now in a room. He had some kidney function damage so as soon as that clears up (hopefully in a couple of days) he will have a dye test to see if he needs a by-pass operation or possibly a stint. If he has a by-pass they will move him to a hospital in Nashville.

I have contact information if anyone needs it. Don is one of the people that I really look to for advice. He is very kind and has helped me in many ways. He calls me at least once every week, and he brightens my day.

I know from my mother in law's heart problems that the dye used to check the heart can mess up the kidney functions. My mother in law had only one kidney but the doctor was very good and on the second operation that was planned things went very well. The first heart attack they had no choice but to use the dye as per normal. But thankfully the kidney recovered.

Actually Vandy, I think he is doing alright. The heart attack resulted in some kidney damage but they expect it to be cleared up by Thursday or Friday and he can have the test.

Don was in high spirits when I talked to him yesterday.

I spoke with Don and they are going to do the dye test tomorrow. That will allow them to decide how to treat him. It will be a stint, triple by-pass, or medicine. He will know tomorrow.

I spoke with Don last night and he sounded well. They moved him to St Thomas in Nashville and were preparing to put a stint in today. I just tried his number and there was no answer so I guess he is still going through the procedure. He expects to be home on Saturday.

I talked to Don tonight. He will be staying in the hospital until at least Tuesday. They were putting the stints in when they realized he had some bleeding. They have to control the bleeding before they can do the stints.

Hey, thanks so much for all of the info on Don. It is really appreaciated I will give him a call, as I have had the heart stint procedure myself, and know what he is going through. Never had chest pain again after it was done 12 years ago.

I called Don Tonight. he sounds good but says he is very weak, ( which happens after a heart attack) He said he was very lucky to have had the heart attack right there in the hospital, as they went into action immeadiatly. He hopes to be home by Tuesday. Thanks again Scott.

This is just terrible news. I hope and pray that Don gets well. He has tremendously helped me in numerous ways. He's a true friend.

I spoke with Don today, and told him that all the folks on the Café' were concerned and were rooting for him.

He is in good spirits and is being well taken of. Hopefully they will be able to complete the necessary tests and procedures within a couple of days, and he'll be good for another 50,000 miles.

One funny note: I called the hospital number and asked for his room. While I was being connected, the operator said to someone else "Boy, this guy must have a zillion friends, everybody wants to talk to him!" And she was SO right!! SETH
