I am very new to mentalism,I just got my first dvd today which is 'learn hypnosis' by richard nongard,im not expecting to get into rapid inductions right after, richard goes over PRM and eye fixation,no detailed teaching of rapid inductions,at the end of the dvd you get some ideas for doing skits,my english is kinda poor so I couldn't really understand all parts of the dvd,my question is,can we try any of the skits such as popular amnesias (making him/her forget his/her name , forget a number) with PRM. Do they get into that deep trance with such a long talk? or do we need to be able to do rapid inductions to use skits?
thank you |

It does not matter if you use PMR or a rapid induction, just so long as you hypnotize. You are only going to know if you have hypnotized if you test your work. That means give suggestions and see if they are followed.

Okay thank you,I just thought that PMR is more of a relaxation , not a trance,I guess I got the 'target man' on the dvd wrong as he talked like he was aware of everything ( well he was really.. but I mean he told it like his eyes were just closed and there was no hypnosis situation, just a listening with closed eyes)
I will follow youre advice and test my suggestion on someone after I work on my script.thanks again. |

The pmr induction works good... instant is a lot trickier (if that's a word).. with pmr you will get better results, with more people.. if you plan on doing staage.. pmr base is good starting point.

Dag,
may I suggest going to some shows with the knowledge you have learned and see if you can pick out the pointers you are looking for, that way you can also use the live shows AS COMPLIMENT to your training. once you have the theoretical stuff firmly in your mind the practical side looks so obvious and should be easy to follow in uk we have a theory driving test but passing that doesn't mean you can drive...... best of luck friend andy |

There is a problem with that, thank you for the suggestion but in my country, hypnosis shows aren't common,I couldn't find one yet after some research.
Hypnosis is just used by doctors for medical treatment etc and there are strict criterias for those who want to take a hypnosis course, you have to be either a doctor or a medicine student which leaves me only with the dvd's and books left as resources. |

Daghank, I don't know what country you are in, but let me ask you this:
If you had a brain tumor and the only doctor who could operate and save your life lived in another country, wouldn't you work and borrow and do everything you could to visit that other country so you could get treatd by that doctor? I know I would. So the truth is, you're not left "only with the dvd's and books." If you really want to learn you could save the money and visit another country. It all depends upon how much you want it. I know people who follow bands on tour, from country to country. Are you less dedicated to your art than some bozos who like a band? Is your future less important than GWAR? |
