I always enjoy discovering new videos of various magicians and see the different approaches to lugging around their equipment both on and off stage. Recently, I came across this video of creative magician- Tim Gabrielson and couldn't help but wonder where he found that nice suitcase table. I looked all over the net trying to get a contact number or email to ask him myself but had no luck. Is anyone here familiar with this set up in the video?

I wonder if it is just a trap table (percussion) stand with a small steamer trunk on top of it. The stands for trap tables are sometimes not attached to the table. The top of the stand has 4 prongs (kind of like the legs of the stand) that are designed to support a flat surface like a table or trunk.
I'm exploring this kind of set-up myself. I'll post anything I discover. -Daniel |

I use something just like that.
Setup 1: a trap table with a Vaultz case just sitting on top. This give you a simple place to put your case and the table gives you extra room to hide a prop or 2. Setup 2: restaurant tray stand with tabletop on top with vaultz case on top of that. Light-weight. Recently I bought a rolling vaultz case and I tear down, and roll everything out right on top of the vaultz case. I'll post a photo later.

See here:
http://www.penguinmagic.com/product.php?ID=1162 This is a DVD download that in my opinion is very much worth it. It will show you how to make the set-up you saw along with other ideas for tables as well as some great tips regarding performing. I made 2 and they work great. He actually shows you how to fabricate the case to attach to a mic stand. PM me if you have any questions. Dave

I use the vaultz rolling file case which also locks:
And it merely sits on top of this: That table is extremely sturdy and durable and you can adjust the height from very low to very high. The only downside is the weight. But since it all rolls in and out, I'm not too worried about that. The table servante is connected to the table top and never needs to be disconnected. I zip it up, turn the table over and it just rests on the underneath side of the table, like magic, when being transported. I switch to a restaurant tray stand when I want light weight. So for less than $150 you have one helluva sturdy, no fuss, no muss, adjustable, setup that rolls in/out. Setup and take-down of this setup is 10 seconds.

Frank, What are you using for the Table Top? And what kind of Ditch Bag it that and how is it attached? Is the table top a Percussion Stand?

Rod,
The tabletop is just the top of the "pearl trap table", which is a $99 item. The ditch bag is my Table Servante. I use it for ditching, convenience, cups loads, hat loads, etc. It connects to the table by any way you see fit. I screwed a couple metal brackets into the trap table and simply clipped/tied the servante to it. I thought I'd have to remove it each time but that is not the case unless you feel like it. 10 seconds, baby!! ![]() p.s. One nice thing about the setup is you're not stuck if you wish to do something different. You can just set the vaults case on a stool, a different table, the floor. Or use no table at all.

Here's a quick idea of how I do my setup. Basically a 10 second setup for any show.
I roll in and set up in 10 seconds. When I'm done, I reverse the process and I'm gone in 10 seconds again. ![]()

This..... Would be mine. You can break the base down and store it inside along with your entire act and it also has a custom soft carry case to protect it.
