Jim's business partner (screen name- Spellbinder) is also my publisher. He is intimately familiar with the effect and is a regular contributor here. I'll give him a heads up to post here and/or contact you.

Someone e-mailed me earlier today about OOPS and I answered it. Was that you, DCB? Is the problem solved? If not, you know where to find me!

It was indeed me, Spellbinder... I'll have another go at it later today. I knocked it up in a hurry, now I'll give it a proper go..
But the question still stands - anyone out there still use this? I've no idea how old it is, and it seems there's a new improved all-singing, all-dancing version - fine, if you're happy to shell out a jumbo slug o' cash - which isn't my way - I'm Scottish, after all... Thanks! DCB

JIm's OOPS machine was published in Genii Magazine in August of 1985. The rip-off's started soon afterwards in 1987, so it's been around awhile. You can still make it in a week-end for under $20, and unlike the snazzier new versions that look like magic props, your homemade OOPS will look exactly as the inventor intended... like a whacky crazy invention you put together with hardboard and duct tape on a weekend and no wonder it burns up the sneaker or shoe!

Anyone looking into burning shoes for a living, should obtain the O.O.P.S. manuscript, if only for background reading.

I purchased it, and it's a real find. Can't wait until I have the free time to put one together.

The discussion on this page was brought to my attention....
I am the creator of the "Wiz Kote" burnt shoe trick made by Chalet Magic and soon to be offered in a up-graded version "Sneeker Tweeker" by Wolf Magic. I have agreements with both parties. I have recently posted a response stating my side of the story. You will find that posting at the bottom of this discussion: http://www.themagiccafe.com/forums/viewt......forum=17
