I am just curious as to which magicians do effects to music and which songs they use with what effects? I am working on a shadow box routine with Michael Jackson's Thriller and also am working on an effect using Born to Run by Bruce Springsteen
Thanks,

I use music from Bill Dileva.
I use him for my Dae Nuvo full evening show (opening dance piece, sub trunk, puppetry, juggling, balancing act, comedy) I also use his stuff for my outdoor shows and street shows. (poi, SJ escape) ok ok ok....Bill Dileva is my real name Yes I use my own music I specifically compose for my shows. |

That is very neat. I DJ And do music as well. Do you play any instruments or do it all on the computer? What programs do you use on the PC?
Thanks,

One we use is " Our House " by Madness for the Doll House, another we use is " Like Long Hair " by Paul Revere and The Raiders for the Dagger Chest, it's a faster tempo intramental song that works well for us.

I highly recommend Bill Deliva. He made custom music for my opener and it is fantastic!

Being a dove, silk and manipulation worker, I use music for my 15 minute act. It starts with Begin the Beguine for an opener. Then for the candles and billiard balls I use Fascination played by Liberace. For the jumbo find the lady, I use the theme from Dragnet and end it all up with the Fienzi twist for the giant square circle and bird cage productions.
I cut and edit the music myself to fit the length of the individual segments of the routine.

I do use a computer program from time to time like Notetater (old program), Traktor DJ studio, and fool around with some free downloads ones from time to time. |

Chris,
I know that this won't answer your question, but it should help selecting the right music for magic. Go and get Gary Ouellet "The Magic and the Music" Booklet. It explains a lot of things an artist should know when wanting to use music for his act (including law and royalties to pay). Oliver. |

Matthew, and others thanks for the suggestions. Oliver that aqtually is a great suggestion and I thank you for it. Question for everyone. If doing a free show I don't get paid no one pays admission do royalties still need to be paid? No one is profiting I am curious about this.
Thanks,
