If you are hesitating on purchasing The Thing because you hadn't seen it in action or perhaps you didn't know how it would go over in a school crowd of 2 + 3rd graders watch this:

The routine was good, and got great reactions from the kids... That is all there is to say...

For what it's worth, I've performed The Thing for kids for quite some time now, and it ALWAYS plays well. It's the first of a 2-segment floating routine that ends with a Losander table (the Thing box has been sitting on the Losander table).
Interestingly, the table has them so awe-struck that they're often silent...but The Thing makes them laugh and scream, particularly when it flies over their heads - the best 'move' of the Thing routine, from my experience. |

I've seen Bill Abbott perform this in person for an audience of 200-300 (public show at a church), and it was really great.

I started adding The Thing to my act with a little suggestion from a Magic Café friend Olivertwist
I need to practise it a lot more... Wanlu

With the Thing in my show, the 2 best moments response wise, are first when it appears over an audience members head, and then when I let it go from both hands and it flies up and out. And I love it when, after the show some one mentions the effect and I hand them the regular hank to examine. I also have it fly out of a open book instead of the box which is too tall to work like the box in Bills video. I wish they would sell the Thing with the same gear as Bill uses. My gimmick also doesn't center with the size cloth provided. It would be better if the gimmick did not hang on cloth as well. Seems it would work better if it was slick and not rough. It is a great effect but I wish there was a little more quality control in the manufacturing.

Echojet,
I have sent you a PM. Not sure what quality control issues are, but I would like to rectify them. Sincerely, Bill Abbott http://www.billabbottmagic.com |

I start my Kid show introducing The Thing like my "invisible pet", it is a veeeery good opener.
I think The Thing has been one of my better buys IN YEARS. Excuse my English. Marcelo

Thanks Marcelo!
That's great to hear. It's a great opener because it gets their attention - immediately - and holds it. For everyone's info, my webstore just launched yesterday and I have some interesting things unavailable anywhere else. Here are some accessories for the Thing here: http://www.billabbottmagic.com/public/admin/Accessories.cfm The new platinum Thing is here: http://www.billabbottmagic.com/public/IS......ProID=11 Cheers Bill Abbott http://www.billabbottmagic.com |

I must have been in a box somewhere because I have never seen this one before! I think I will be buying this next month when I have the cash! Its gonna be my opener for my kids show to get them looking... Hmmm.. Maybe even bring it with me when I am strolling... very cool.. I could see a lot of ways using this thing from comedy... mystery... Kid shows... What the difference with the new version?
Here is a link to it: http://www.billabbottmagic.com/public/IS......ProID=11 |
