How about a really HUGE paper, say 1000 miles in length and width?

The principle behind the statement is that the paper doubles in thickness and decreases surface area by half with each fold. The original factoid states that a piece of paper cannot be halved 8 times.

On the eighth fold you would be folding a thickness of 256 sheets. With a sheet as large as a roll of wrapping paper, it can be done fairly easily but using everyday notebook paper or even newsprint the adage rings true. Newspaper can be done but the 8th fold is quite tough.

Hey bo, I can also poke my head through a hole the size of a quarter and stick out my tongue and touch my nose.
