It's nice to see such a classic suspension illusion still generating amazement from modern crowds.

True. Classics are classics, because they work.
I think they're often ignored, in the face of something that's new and exciting, that will never stand the test of time. What is the test of time, anyway? This sounds like a routine...

Every time I see this suspension I wish I could build it. It is one of those things that just looks very cool.
Harley would look great floating over a bed of nails like this. |

I think it wouldn't be as comfortable, as lying on it. I really do like that. Nails.

You guys crack me up!
You pretend you don't know it's all done with wires! But that's OK. Go on. I'll keep reading. |

Wires, bah! Can't be done!
I shall suspend my disbelief!

Is there a difference between a long dress, and a robe? I have a couple of robes.
(I also have a pile of bamboo in my barn, though I have other uses in mind.)

As I recall, David Copperfield has a much better version of this suspension. He wore a long-sleeved shirt or jacket, rather than a sleeveless dress, however.

Yeah but given choice between an Incan Princess and a hairy guy from New Jersey...
Copperfield's was a moving levitation onstage not an in-the-round suspension so perhaps an unfair comparison.

With burning coals below you could use your free hand to be useful and cook something.
Marshmallows, flip a pancake...something...Popcorn! I'm liking this effect more and more for you Harley! Someone should also market this to the shopping mall Santa guys. They sit all day anyway, they could just latch on to a big ole "Candy Cane" or the "North Pole" and sit their hefty selves in the air. Lose that lap sitting tradition. Kids can pose for a photo under Saint Nick if they must. |

I'm more impressed with the crowd control than I am with the illusion.

That's when you wish for the good ol' days of places like Vegas run by the mob. Any yahoos would end up on the wrong side of a shovel in the middle of the desert...and everyone knew it.

To be honest I think that it looks obvious how the 'illusion' is worked. I agree with Jim, the crowd control is more impressive.

Keep an eye out for the Ramana performances of this, he sets up in plain view, goes shirtless wearing just pants. Stopped traffic in times square a year or so ago and pretty much took himself around the world with this one!
