What do you people think is the difference between flourishing in magic and XCM?

Flourishing within magic tricks almost always has a context, or motivation for it. for example a fancy cut or shuffle is to "mix up the cards", a pressure fan is to display all the indicies to the viewer, etc. In some cases though, a flourish is just to establish mastery of the cards (such as a card spring, not a lot of point to that)
Whereas in XCM, there isn't really a reason for it except that it looks very very cool |

Yeah. I noticed that people like De'vo are not magicians. They are something different. However there probably aren't many XCMers here; prob more at T11 forums.

That is true, in fact there are a lot of older magicians here, which typically hate XCM (in my opinion because they are jealous they can't do it, but who knows?) but some magicians here like the XCM products to accentuate their magic, after all, magicians already do ribbon spreads and stuff ... remember Senor Notis' cascades and crazy flourishes?
you are incorrect about t11 though, t11 forums actually just has a bunch of magicians or n00by little kids, they have very few dedicated flourishers. probably in the single digits. They did however buy Andrei Jikh who is an incredible manipulator and I think they might be pimping him out for a new DVD soon, which will finally give t11 a reason to exist in my opinion... besides all their other products which appear to be rehashed one-trick DVDs. or an instant download on how to crimp a card. at superhandz or decknique you can find a lot of pure manipulation (non magic) videos. |

I'm not going to learn anything elaborate ,,,,nor am I going to spend a lot of money on the XCM but want a few cool things to do in between card tricks...if my customers like it I will keep it in .....have only been studying XCM a few days and will not have any flourish ready for a while....I also make balloons for children after doing a trick or two....it (like the balloons) is just another skill that I will be able to offer to enhance the magic....I'm in the older group (50) and I think it is cool !!
