We all know visual and sound are important for busking. Which one do you think is mor of a plus? I can see that as a tough question, so it might be better if it was in details. For example:
When gathering the crowd. In the middle of a full circle/half circle/sidewalk performance. The end of an act. In a quiet area. At a loud festival area. |

Visual vs. Sound...
Good question. Probably best to ask a mime.

Dynamike, You're putting up some good topics to discuss lately. People who hang back from coming up to the edge, or those who are so far back that they can't hear, are getting themselves a soundless show. How much sense that makes to them is their fault; if they came closer they would see and hear better.
When I'm peforming I don't have a lot of flash out visually. Or do I? I may have a ballon out tied to a pole, Some of my spectators holding their balloon models, I've got my bags on a suitcase trolley. A silk might be hanging out over my bag. But my concentration is on what I'm doing with my spectators as I go through my routines with the relevant gear. Playing cards early in the show, then balloon fun, then big ring and rope, and finally Cut and Restored. Sound: I don't shout as such, and use no amp. I run a sidewalk show mostly.
The presentation makes the magic.

I use both. I don't know that one is more important than the other. Most likely people can hear you (amplified) before they can see you, so take that for what it's worth.

I think Gaddy's got it,.. use both. But you know, not too much of either! Too loud, is a turn off. To bright, hurts.
A candy-man I know, works with Smell. Very very attracting! He swears, "People follow their noses first!" Don't know if this is helpful,.. but interesting eh. By the way, Cellini swears, "... a ringing telephone, a crying baby,... jingling coins. Can't be beat." When getting blown away, by another `artist', he often went to his Miser's Dream Routine. take care Mike, now we know WHY you want to go to Canada,.. for better weather! gallagher |
