Hey folks,
I'm heading to Hank Lee's Magic Conclave in Cape Cod on Friday, and I'm not sure what to bring. I go to a lot of juggling festivals, and I just bring most of my juggling props because so much time is spent in the gym juggling. However, in my limited experience with magic festivals, there's not too much time when a group of people are hanging out rockin' the pamlo or multiplying bottles. So...which effects do you bring. And how many? And what do you work on while you're there? Thanks for any advice. -Daniel |

Lust remember to leave room for what you pick up while you're there. I have yet to come home with my bags weighing the same.

I take pants, shirts, socks, and underwear.
Oh, and a toothbrush (or a TEETHbrush...)

At the few magic conventions I have attended, most of the "sessioning" that goes on in the hotel lobby, until the wee hours, involves mainly cards and coins. If you are into autograph collecting, you might want to bring some blank-face cards and a Sharpie, possibly a camera. Mainly, if you are bringing stuff to show during the breaks and evenings you would probably want to have stuff you can put in your pockets, unless you like carrying around a backpack or some other kind of bag/case. Oh, be prepared for long nights if get involved in the lobby sessions (well worth the sacrifice of sleep).
Have fun! Jared |

Knowing that Michael Ammar was going to vend at last year's IBM/SAM shindig, I purposely brought my kilt jacket (I perform in contemporary Highland dress)--which is outfitted with a pair of terrific topits by Lynetta Welch--and the props for my opening stand-up routine. Then, toward the end of the convention, I politely solicited some personal coaching on my topit technique from Michael.
And he graciously complied! |
