Does anyone have experience with the Craig Dickens Kids Sawing?
Kalin and Jinger has used this in the past and it seemed to go over very well.

Actually this is a Jim Steinmeyer concept. He called it Surgical Slice. There are only 3 of these. Jims, Mark Kalins and Al Belmonts.

Craig, I understand you are the only authorized builder, is this true?
I'm interested in this illusion any information on it from your point of view would be very interesting to know.

Thanks,

Joe

It is actually a sawing thru much like the bow sawing except the blade is wide and can be signed to show no switch.
The boxes on 2 were made to fold flat for packing and set up quickly. Very clever principle employed in the method. The blade is plunged down , boxes removed and the kid sits up with the blade now behind them.

Sounds like an awesome effect for kids shows. I see you have only made 3. Is this for public or just for special use?

What logic is there in signing a blade when you do a sawing effect?

Oh, I hope that "signing the blade" isn't a normal part of the routine. That would be akin to stating, "Here I have a normal deck of cards"... Smile

It is pictured on my website.
Jim has a routine rationalizing all moves. I believe it is an insurance policy or permission to saw you in half or something of that ilk.
From a builders perspective, it is a marketing approach to let magicians know that the blade doesn't switch. You don't have to do it, but it is there.
