As most of us are, I am quick to criticize poor customer service, so try hard to be equally fast about praising GREAT customer service. I recently ordered an item from Mr. Mason and was dying to play with it over the weekend. It arrives, the DVD gets me all excited about the props, but alas one turns out to be broken. I e-mail Mr. Mason on Saturday night EDT asking him what to do. I wake up Sunday AM have a mail from him saying he will send a replacement and was surprised as he personally checked out the item before it was sent. This is simply superlative customer service, I will make an effort to order from him in the future and encourage others to support folks like this.

The first one should have been checked before being sent imho. Now that would have been great customer service.

He did check it out -- things happen in the mail. Not sure what else he could have done -- very impressive to me.

I think you still do not get it. HE DID check it out before he sent the first one.
I am a dealer as well and sometimes things get damaged in the shipment under normal and careful packing conditions. I want to applaude Mark for being a great dealer with the best of customer service. Anyone who knows Mark will attest to this. To prove I am unbiased we are competetive dealers at some conventions. He's still a great guy! |

I'm confused now. Surely if he checked it properly the first time then there would be no need to exchange it.

NOt at all true. Things break in the mail -- has happened to me before and obviously happened in this case. Once the package leaves his hands he is no longer responsible -- in fact I suppose I could have asked to insure the package. Instead he is being a really good guy, and replacing the item even though it was not his fault.

Also consider this, I was at a lecture of his in Japan one week ago (and mine area wasn't his last stop)! When one travels a long way, the recovery from jet-lag usually takes a day per hour of time difference, and Japan to England is probably about a week's recovery time. That kind of service while jet-lagged should be complimented!
Also, see his lecture sometime, it's loads of fun! Bill |

Mark Mason is the best demo dealer I have ever seen. He does care about his customers. I asked him many times about certain items he is selling and he would just say, here have one and try it out. Not too many around like that anymore.
Trust me he is the real deal. Dean |

I agree Dean. I see Mark every year at the Columbus Magifest and he is always the biggest attraction. Nice. Respectful. Charismatic. He jokes with you, but doesn't patronize.
He also respects the magic community enough to show the workings of his effects after he demos, just so you can make an educated purchase. That's rare. I've given him hundreds of dollars of business over the years and never regretted one penny. P.S. Dean, I've heard nothing but great things about you as well. Dean's Box is one of my all time favorite effects, although I know you've heard that many times before. Magic needs more people like Mark and you...smart, talented, entertaining, and approachable. A rare find these days. Take care.
Pay no attention to that man behind the curtain.

I cannot find Marks web site. It used to be JBTV.com, but it doesn't show up under Google. Does anyone know if it has changed or is down? I broke my Blindspot gimmick and I'm trying to see if he'll sell a replacement cheaper. Thanks

I watched him work the dealer room over the weekend at Hank Lee's convention, the man is a brilliant demo guy. He's even a notch above the Sham-wow guy on TV.

I really can't add to what's been posted here, so if you ever get a chance to either see his lecture or his booth, don't pass it up. Just bring some extra cash you'll be glad you did. |
