I'm trying to track down some historical background on the Six Card Repeat. I know that Tommy Tucker is credited with inventing it, using sleight of hand; however, I can't pinpoint the year or who invented the gaffed version.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I believe Charles "Baffles" Brush was the one who first added the pockets to the cards in the late 1930s, shortly after Tommy Tucker came up with the concept in 1936.

I don't know, Spellbinder. I only got to start hanging out at the magic shop all I could back in 1975, and the trick at Tannen's was called "Al Baker's Six Card Repeat" as best I recall.
Where might one find a reference to Charles Brush's works?

No one called him "Charles" until his obituary was written. Do research on the name "Baffles Brush," and all will be revealed.

There is another version with R&S cards, at least I have one from El Duco in large cards.

There is an entertaining lecture on the 6 card repeat from this year's Magic and Meaning gathering. It is the third one down.

According to my notes the pockets were added by Charles Baffles [Brush] in 1937 or 1938 (but my notes are not carved in stone) I had a problem in tracing the date from the ads in the magazines.

I believe in the Dover reprint of Hugard's More Card Manipulations Tommy Tucker is credited for a routine with it.
Tommy did it with the glide sleight face down. I don't have the date at hand but I know that is a source. Richard
