I think it is call Poultry in Motion. it has been discussed before on here. not too long ago either.
I believe the effedct is quite old, it is in a book somewhere, but I can remember the name,
do a search for it.

I've just searched the Café (and google) for Poultry in motion, but can only find a nostalgic thread discussing David Copperfield specials. Anyone got any ideas about where I could get the illusion?

Making a set your self or having one made shouldn't be that hard if you understand the principles that might have been employed. I say "might" because I have my own ideas on the methodolgy here, but could be off base.

I'm thinking along the lines of a night club dove vanish or tear apart. The set would be a little different, but could work.
