This is probably covered before, but I don't know where to look.
In writing new works, books, downloads, whatever. It would be easy to copy illustrations of standard moves from an existing book -- some beyond copyright. What are feelings about using these, methods of seeking permission, giving credit, etc. I'm terrible at doing sketches.

I have also wondered about this. I can't even draw a stick figure, yet with some creative copy / pasting I could easily detail a routine of mine.

If you cannot draw, why not just take digital pix of your hands doing the trick and use an "illustration filter" in Photoshop or GIMP to make it look like a drawing ?
Or would you rather just steal?

Woah, I didn't say that I've done it or was even planning on doing it - it was just a thought.
I did think about just using photographs of my hands. I don't know anything about Photoshop or GIMP, but I'm sure that's a good suggestion. But really, I think if you can't draw, like me, then my 1st step would be to phone Tony Dunn! If that fails then use pictures

You should really check out Photoshop (or it's free counterpart- GIMP) those effects filters are great.

Does it matter?
Most modern manuals use photos, many magic books among them.
