I recently purchased the entire run of this Stephen Tucker edited magazine through Lybrary.com. It contains over 750 pages of material! With a new baby in our house, I'm having to prioritize my time and figure that at this rate, it will take me two years to get through Spell-Binder. If there is anyone out there familiar with Spell-Binder that can recommend some effects to move up to the front of the line, I would certainly appreciate it.

Yes!! Another magazine-o-phile!!
SpellBinder is a KILLER publication. I will PM you some effects I think are cool. The things is with Spellbinder is that virtually the whole run is excellent. I would say that that Stephen Tucker was just as picky in his 750 page mag as Harry Lorayne was with his 2880 page Apocalypse. In fact, Stephen Tucker was a contributor to Apocalypse as well as the great British publication Pabular. Good call Lumberjohn on getting this! And congrats on the new baby too Best, Vlad |

Chris,
We are talking about Spellbinder, which was a magazine published by Stephen Tucker which you and others here should SERIOUSLY consider getting; it is no relation to the user Spellbinder AFAIK. John, I haven't forgotten. I will be sending you some suggestions via PM soon. Best, Vlad |

To John and Wayne who have asked me for some suggestions from Spellbinder: I just finished rearranging my magic and music studio. Please give me a few more days, and I will have a good list for you.
To everyone else: If you do not snag Spellbinder, you are TRULY missing out!! It ran concurrently - though not as long - with the great magazine Pabular (another MUST buy). I CAN say this with ALL confidence: Stephen Tucker was VERY selective about what he chose to be published in Spellbinder. Yes, over 750 pages CAN seem daunting, but, I guarantee that you can open Spellbinder to ANY effect and have a worker. Pabular is much the same. I have it and Spellbinder both in hardcopy and digitally. Both are GREAT magazines, and in the US anyway, it seems that the great British mags like the above mentioned and The Gen, The Wizard, The Magic Wand, and even Stanyon's MAGIC are largely passed over. Hmmm, maybe it's the LENGTH of these?? Spellbinder is "small" compared to the others, but, ALL have GRRRRREAT magic waiting just for YOU!! The SCARIEST one in terms of research is The Magic Wand. This mag ran as long as The Sphinx. Problem is, there is NO overarching index for this behemoth collection - tens of thousands of pages!! Having said that, if you are willing to take the deep breath before the plunge, you will find long lost secrets that you will use My next purchase is The Bat. This was published in America by Lloyd Jones and Todd Karr has it available now on DVD. Since I read that Richard Kaufman's long awaited MR. JENNINGS TAKES IT EASY probably won't be out before 2010 - he is working on a Deland book - my credit card is primed for other stuff. Magically, Vlad |
