I received the following from Dale Salwak:
I am saddened to report that Carol Roy, who for fifty years shared the stage with her beloved husband, Marvyn, passed away on the afternoon of May 2nd after several years of declining health at their home in La Quinta, California -- their "Island in the Sun." Carol lived a full life, enriched by thousands of friends the world over as she indeed enriched theirs. Paris, the Lido, the Stardust Hotel in Las Vegas, Radio City Music Hall, Ed Sullivan, the Magic Castle - they did it all, together, becoming an inspiration to an ever-growing magical family. Marvyn's dedication in his book, "Mr. Electric: Unplugged," says it all: "For Carol - Together we rode the wind and touched the stars." |

I had the honor and opportunity to work with Marvyn and Carol Roy for two weeks back during the 1980's. They were extremely encouraging and gave me and my assistant lots of help. They were very friendly and easy to work with.
I will miss Carol very much.

The only thing Marvyn loved more than magic, was Carol. She was the sweetest lady I have ever met. I am only one of the thousands who will miss her dearly.

I met Carol and Marvyn at a convention a few years ago. They sat next to us during a lecture and were two of the nicest people I've met. They were very friendly and didn't feel like they were two steps higher on the ladder than everyone else. Just plain "folks". I'll always remember that experience and my thoughts and prayers go out to Marvyn.

I've known Marvin and Carol for many, many years. Only met them in person a small hand full of times but every time I would call or see them, they were the nicest people in the world. They deserved all the success in life that they achieved. My thoughts, prayers and condolences go out to Marvin.

I called the Roy home today and was asked to pass on the following:
Marvyn is very appreciative for the outpouring of love and support that he has been receiving from around the world. They will hold a private service this Thursday for family only. A more public memorial service is being planned for late June at the Magic Castle. Additional details to follow as the plans are finalized. In lieu of flowers, Marvyn is asking that donation in honor of Carol be made to one of two charities. That is extremely sad news. Such a lovely lady in every way.

May she (and the souls of the faithful departed, through the mercy of God,) rest in peace.

Another posting is under Grand Illusions on the menu. These two were highly inspirational since seeing them on Ed Sullivan in the mid fifties. My prayers go out to Marvyn, my sentiments need go incompletely expressed at this time due to the wave of sorrow, joy, loss/ remembrance,I'll just watch their DVD again tonight and be thankful that their energetic passionate performances were given to us all and rivets this duo as a leading couple of our magical arts family.
Blessed be, Dr. Solar

For those that have yet to see it, I posted the official Obituary and photo that went out to the media yesterday.
When I was on the phone yesterday, Dale was reviewing it with Marvyn for final changes. I cannot imagine how hard that must have been. |

I just got back from the service in Palm Springs. It was a wonderful tribute to an amazing performer and person. Adam Wylie sang "Wind Beneath My Wings" and the lyrics couldn't have resonated more. Carol will be greatly missed.
