Hi,
I just reread Dai Vernons Triumph effect in Stars of Magic. In the part where the false shuffle is explained, Vernon uses playing cards with a back pattern containing of five pointed leaves. Does anybody know what the card design is called, who produced them, and if they still are available? Thanks! Vinkelhaken |

I'd guess they are an old USPCC design. USPCC has put out a number of vintage backs in recent years, but I haven't seen these. Also, I have heard that they are planning to discontinue the vintage backs altogether (indeed they may have already done so) along with their decision to stop manufacturing "Big Bicycle" Jumbo decks.

I believe what you are referring to are "Vindicator" brand playing cards. These were mfg'd. by the Western Publishing Co. out of Minn./St.Paul Minnesota. These are very hard to come by, pretty much extinct. I'm not home right now, but I will check the two decks I have when I get there.
Cheers!

When I bought the book I remember, or at my age I think I remember, getting my copy of "Stars of Magic" home and leafing through to discover I had the same cards that the "Professor" was using.
