I stepped out the back door where I work at 1:59pm EDT. At 2:02pm I could see the Space Shuttle blasting it's way into outer space en route to the Hubble Telescope. It was a beautiful hot, sunny, & typical day in Florida...perfect rocket launching & watching conditions!
I live on the Space Coast of Florida and watching rockets has been a part of my life since I watched the Apollo mission that went to the moon in '68. I was a sophmore in high school. It never gets old and the rumble of the launch still rattles the ribcage. May God be with the astronauts as they journey to and from their mission. Kudos to NASA! Cardamagically, Dom. :)

In my mind, NASA is one of the few government agencies that is worth funding. Like you, I remain glued to the television whenever there is a launch! Wish I could see one live!

Dang shuttle! I use to go to see the launch over and over and EVERY time the weather caused a delay and I never did see it take off. The closest I got was being off the coast of Coco Beach (great town) and it launced over us. You could see it one second then that sucker kicked into gear and....couldn't see it any longer cuz it was wayyyyy over thar while I was lookin' over yar.

I have a tv at work and saw some of it.
Must really be something to actually see it in person. |

Back when the space shuttle first started flying , it landed in Calif and they flew it back on the back of a 747. One Sunday Morning it flew over my church really low and gave us a very good view of it.
I dated a girl who's dad worked at Vandenberg AFB and they were supposed to have shuttle launches from there and I would have been able to go. The cancelled that program and I dumped the girl and moved away. |

I met a really cute girl in 1977 near Vandenberg, do you know her?
