Two ways to keep good magic out of the hands of hacks and wannabe's..... high quality props priced as such OR hide the secrets in print!
Johnny's props are quite well made! MMc |

Potato chips, anyone? Side views are going to be found wanting, I'd be willing to wager.

I liked his steals from under the mat.
From the ad : Coin Bomber is definitely the best coin gimmick of the century. It is also the best item Johnny Wong has ever invented in ten years!" It looks like a regular coin nest though.

OK, who has made the plunge on this one yet??? That almost looks too good to be true, so I'm hoping to see a review from one if not a few of you quality coin men and women out there asap!

Never mind my post. I watched it a second time.
How I love to still be fooled by a good handling of coins in ANY kind of routine! It brings back that 8 year old in me again every time!!! Question is: Are they Trinity Coins, or Super Triples??? |

Isn't this reminisant of Dean Dills explosion?

I don't think I'm giving anything away, but if you are familiar with Johnny Wong's Trinity Coin Set, this is four of them. He has so many one-to-three coins (Super Triple Coin, Dream Coin Set, etc.) that I get them confused, but this is four of the Trinity Set. The routine is remarkably easy to do, despite how very good his demo looks, but the coins do take a knack to operate. I think all the "coins all over the pad" routines owe a debt of gratitude to Paul Gertner and his routine, I think it was called, "This Is Ridiculous." His is the only routine I've seen of this type where it does not look like you are separating some special coins...probably because you are not.

I remember seeing Gertner do that back when I knew next to nothing about coin or any kind of magic. Wow!
These days I know even less.

I saw this at MagicLive and Johnny was selling this effect for $80 off retail. Didn't buy it at the time but now I'm second guessing myself. Anyone know where I can get this at a discounted price?

Not something so special huh? Why was that and when you perform for laypeople have they ever try to grab the coins after wards? |

I was thinking the same thing Mr. Sokolsky, the effect is very similar. Whereas Mr. Dill's is very visual with that feel of magic to it, this one does the same thing where you're thinking slight of hand.
Both are excellent so I suppose it would depend on where you perform. This one seems more portable. I'm wondering if that's a good way to put it. I would be very interested in hearing from someone who has a set of these. It may just be my impression but it did seem to have a tad bit of awkwardness that explosion doesn't have. It's covered very well with the flourishes in the video from a skilled prestidigitator. |

I just wish that he didn't have to line the coins up so straight. It looks like it has to be done that certian way because he does it several times during the routine to make another coin appear. Does he have to line them up so straight with one another? Thanks

The lining the coins up doesn't bother me so much. I've got just a touch of OCD going on and I'm constantly straightening and lining things up. It drives me nuts when things are all crooked. Even though I'm an idiot, I use it to my advantage especially for things like the Three Shell Game, people are so used to me touching them just to line things up they don't pay attention when I'm doing it at the last minute to reposition things, so to speak.
For instance the adjustment of the mat would fit right in with me, nobody would give it a second thought. It's hard to tell what the performer is like from just this short clip, you may find out for him it's perfectly natural. |

But, does he have to make the magic trick work?
Thanks Bairefoot |

Maybe it's just me but the effect doesn't look very magical to my eyes. Instead it looks incredibly mechanical! To "produce" the coins he stacks them strangely in his hand and drops them 1 at at time on the mat. It just strikes me wrong in the manner that he produces 3, then picks up 2 to stack oddly together to produce a 3rd and so on. I showed this video to my younger sister (she's 11) and she said it looks like he's taking the coins apart when he picks them back up and moves them around. She does not know what a [ is btw. Having the trinity and dream coin sets I'd have to say stay away from this - In my opinion it screams gimmicky and you'd be hard pressed to wow somebody for more than a few moments. Sorry guys - just my opinion.
