I have no doubt that OC will fully be open again in 1 year, after they notice a decline in business... but as for this year.. Stick a fork in it, don't waste your time..

Sorry to hear it...You don't think the police will be more tolerant because they now know there's only 2 pitches? Also, with less pitches, perhaps these 2 will will now prosper. I guess it's all moot if you think it will be reversed in 12 months.
Where I live, the shop owners have zippo say and if they don't like it, they can leave anytime they wish. Z

I think it's great that you guys got personally involved in this fight. But please don't stop now. It seems from these articles (and posts here) that OC has a core group of professionals. That's great, so go with that! Expand that core and learn to trust each other like never before. Put down a set of rules for these new conditions and make sure everyone agrees for the rest of this year to follow them, and punish those who don't. Maybe an early morning lottery would work? It works fine at Covent Gardens and several other busy spots. Hold private meetings and form a strategy. Get a lawyer and fight this in court.
But what ever you do, don't give in and move away. |

I think Alexander has a very enticing charisma and aura (sp?) of magic about him. His sleights are clean and effortless, and his stage presence is that of a master.
We shared a pitch for a couple of days in NOLA. Great guy. Great magician. He also helped me with a few sleights in my routine. Though I still resort to my ways of doing things, I now have goals to aspire towards. It's kinda funny/humbling/amazing when someone watches you do YOUR effects and instantly shows you a cleaner handling! Yeah, he's good. |

I'm scratching my head wondering what anybody could see in that video to grumble about. Good choice of effects, they played well and packed small, good presence, he treated his crowd and volunteers well, got good responses (gasps even). He worked a medium size circle without an amp, and he could be heard clearly, even with the jazz band in the background. He looked good too, professional but not out of place, which I think, given the topic of this thread, is worthy of consideration. I am concerned with these kinds of stories, I'm hearing them more and more. Chance is right, we should be concerned and we should pull together.
