I believe I know what this is...and had the feeling World Magic shop were doing something like this....either that or I just imagined that they were doing it lol, but it is a clever idea. My problem I find these days, is finding gimmicks that can be made into dollar sized coins. I do one effect with half dollar sized coins, and it is only for the fact I can't get them in Dollars, that I do it like that...

Chastain claims he can get them in larger coins ... however ... it would cost a lot of dough.

I'm not sure but I think a magician used these coins in last nights "Masters of Illusion" show on tv.
It was a nice routine. Good magic to all, Eric |

Are they an adaptation of a split coin? if so, pretty cool!

I had pretty much the same idea. I emailed all the custom coin gaffers: Lassen and Delong never responded. World Magic Shop told me it was impossible to make coins that thin (which it's not) and Schoolcraft told me he has made coins like that before but wasn't interested in making them again. Oh well. I was pretty sad because I worked out some stellar routines.

There's too much closed finger tip action going on in that routine.

There's a pre-production special on these for email newsletter subscribers for $150 for the two-coin set (half-dollar sized), with an estimated cost of $175 if you wait until after production starts. No Chinese coin at present, and no info yet on larger coin sizes, other than they will be more expensive (if they are made).

Chastain posted this over at the MT .....
Quote: "OK so I haven't been posting a terrible amount of information about this new item .... mainly in order to keep the order ... I posted in one area because it was pertinent to the conversation. So here is the Official announcement! On June 12th, 2009 Pre-Orders will be accepted on what will possibly be one of the biggest coin gaff releases of 2009! If you stroll over to http://www.magicbyenigma.com/cartel and sign up for the newsletter you will be amongst the only fifty that will have a chance to purchase these coins at a one time low discounted rate. We do not anticipate them ever going down in cost or being mass produced! If the initial run of these coins does well enough we will offer them again .... so ... sign up and get ready to make your coin magic hit a whole new level!" End Quote C YA REAL SOON! |

Chastain showed me some other videos of these fabulous coins. I have no idea how these coins work. But let me describe a few things I have seen. 2 separate coins. One copper, one silver, held at the fingertips of one hand. Both are dropped to the table top, and the silver coin passes immediately thru the tabletop. I have no idea where or how it went but it was there one second and gone the next. Its as visual as using a flipper coin, but it's not a flipper.
He also does a version of International 3 Fly where 3 different coins travel from one hand to the other, and your clean at the end. He even hinted to me that he has a Chinese coin with a hole in the middle in the works for use with this set. The fact that this is even possible is magic to me. |

Here is my personal opinion. I would love to see them in silvers too ... however ... I am an elcheapo and would rather not pay a higher price, unless I start making money from them. I love the fact that they look and feel better than any other set I have. I own the Kennedy coin (Super?)Not bad but not great. I own Johnny Wong's Dream Set but I never use it .... it stopped being usable quick. These coins seems to be bare minimum and not over done. However in that it made them highly durable and usable. I think that these are the best I have ever seen. On the video Chastain mentions someone named Pettis and Mai? and Craig Petty .... not seen those verisons. I like them and plan on useing them until they wear out ... which looks like not for a long time.
I give them a 8.5 ..... I would give them a 9 however I think the DVD is lacking a lot of good routines. I know Chastain he is local and he knows my opinion. In a word ... Excellent In three words - SEEYA Real SOON! |
