There are disagreements about where they came from, what they individually mean, even how many cards there should be in a pack - so there is NO system other than one you imagine for yourself. I use a gimmicked set of Tarot Cards (Christian Schenk/Card Shark) which are absolutely superb to perform 'tricks' with. I recommend the idea.

The impact has been so strong that I use nothing else at the moment. I would love to talk about the routines more. But they do depend on the specific properties of these amazing cards and the added sets which go with them. Maybe a thread in Inside the Crypt? Or is there already one that I have missed? I am very keen to develop an ambitious card routine with them as seems to be indicated in one of the posts with the devil reappearing. I would really welcome suggestions on that. I do use my reading skills in some of the routines, but not all. Lynne |

Fortune Telling is FUN and T.C. Tahoe's book is the best I've read on the Tarot.

In the right hands, Larry Becker's Unbalanced is quite deceptive. It's in his Stunners Plus book.

My Book In The Play of Shadows is now out. 29 effects with Tarot cards
You can get it from H&R Books http://www.magicbookshop.com/ or you can get it here or from me. in the lower 48 paypal me $20 and I will cover the postage! Anywhere else make it $24. paypal account tc@tctahoe.com but don't just take my word for it... Richard Webster said... "Until now, it’s been hard to find powerful effects that use Tarot cards. For me, effects with Tarot cards should include a fascinating story, and any moves need to look natural. Complicated sleights and Tarot cards do not go well together. ... ... T C Tahoe obviously knows all this. His book is full of powerful effects, created with simple moves, and every one of them has a delightful story designed to intrigue, captivate and entertain the spectators. ...“In the Play of Shadows” is a goldmine for any close-up performer. |

I didn't read all the responses but check with Magic Inc for a booklet on tarot card magic written by the late great Bob Brown, one of the greatest men ever to perform magic. You may also want to see his book on cold reading.

In The Wizards' Journal #1 (on my site), Eleazar Goodenough described how to build a Tarot Card Box from a craft store box, and use it in a Tarot routine.
Recently, I have discovered a source for beautifully decorated Tarot boxes which just need Eleazar's treatment. You could also rebuild one of these boxes as an "Elevator Box" in which your Tarot Deck can appear (The Wizards' Journal #11 has the article). You could offer candy from the box one minute, and then suddenly the Tarot deck fills the box... etc. Source for decorated Tarot boxes: http://witchcraft-supplies.com/Boxes.html The "Hecate Triple Pentagram Treasure Chest" on that site is described as just the right size for most Tarot decks, but they have many other boxes that would also work.

Please excuse me for going slightly off topic here.
Do all churches or religious groups forbid Tarot cards and Fortune Telling? Are there any that 'allow' them? :) |
