I believe he has said that it does not fit with his definition of his character.

Rbattle is right. Max has given his character very specific parameters as to what he can and can't do and does not cross that line.
He takes his character seriously and sticks to the rules he has set for himself. Having said that, he has put out ideas that can be used by metal benders. There are a few in PRISM. Greg
