I am looking for a program that will do the following.
I give some a memory stick. When the put the stick in their computer it AUTOMATICALLY opens their browser and goes to a website. That's all it needs to do. I don't mind if their firewall or virus protection software either a) blocks the program or b) asks |

Nice - pushing the autorun function a bit though especially if they have that setting turned off.

That sounds good. I've found code for running a html page from the memory stick but not one that opens an online site.

Not every memory stick can do this...
Are these something you want to buy in bulk to give away, or does this need to work with any memory stick? If you look into the U3 type technology, basically the stick has a partition that shows up as a floppy/cdrom and enables autorun, because usb mass storage devices by default don't autorun. All you would need to do is throw portable firefox on there with the page set as the homepage and have firefox run on insertion.... this is doable but depends on which stick and what exactly you are trying to get out of it. |

Most spyware, adware and anti-virus companies work out ways to PREVENT people doing what you're trying to do ...

Daegs is right, autorun is configured for floppy/cd drives.
There is software available that you can install that allows stock USB drives to autorun, but you would need to install this onto the target machine first - not very impromptu. Even with that software, the standard "Removable Disk what do you want to do?" dialogue box will pop up also on most windows machines. Where there's a will, however... The following should work for most windows boxes : 1. Run notepad.exe and save the following as autorun.inf in the root directory of the thumb drive [autorun] open=nic.bat ACTION = Start Conman Fun 2. Run notepad again and save the following as nic.bat in the root directory of the thumb drive start firefox conman.com.au start iexplore conman.com.au 3. When the thumb drive is plugged in the "what do you want windows to do?" dialogue box should pop up and the first entry should read "Start Conman Fun using the program provided on the disk" 4. iexplore and firefox are both there for maximum browser coverage. If they have both they will both start. 5. An ugly dos box will pop up momentarily during this process. 6. I prefer single malt Cheers, Nosher
