Your statement of "find more recent scientific articles that disputes the article" reminds me of scientists from the naive empirism from the 18th century. Modern science is aware of the fact that there is no such thing as the "one truth" and if you know a bit about scientists who have build the way to the modern state of science like Sir Popper you should know that there never can be a verified hypothesis but, in the best of all cases, only a falsified one and even a falsification depends on so much variables and assumptions that it, too, will not lead to a universal truth. If you are a scientist (are you?) you should know that basically every scientist can, if he wishes, give "scientific evidence" to support HIS view of the world... A deeper look in the concepts of constructivism would probably also give you a more critical distance to so-called "scientific evidence". I would suggest to read Popper, von Glasersfeld or maybe, for a start, an introductory work about philosophy of science. But the point is: every person creates his own reality so just feel free to keep on believing your "scientific evidence" from internet articles, I honor your opinion, if you think NLP is like scientology and not "working" by all means keep your belief, but, please do not state it as a universal truth about NLP...

If you have time, feel free to look up dianetics. It is very similar to NLP. In fact, they share the most fundamental belief: our mind can solve any problem. And if you feel like the knol article is not trustworthy, check out the bottom of the article where the author cites all the shcolarly journals and articles that were used to write the actual article. your ignorance continues to not only amuse me, but scare me. Not only NLP has been unable to prove its claims, scientifically NLP has been disproven. And that's a fact. |

So.....back on topic....Jerome this delay SUCKS....I'm taking your poster off my bedroom wall until I hear that you have worked HARD on your virtue of "punctuality"...seriously man these hypnotists.....huff huff puff puff.....and you take up so much of this thread "going off topic" to explain the reasons...in all seriousness I was so excited to hear that people are "going off topic" AGAIN about NLP and science....I vote we bring RELIGION into this thread too....who's with me?

Kwon,
I'm the first to admit the body of knowledge and practice known as 'NLP' contains massive amounts of bulls**t in both theory AND practice. With this in mind, after 10+ years of constant attention, study and practice I believe I've distilled the B.S. down to a bare minimum and have provided dozens and dozens of thoughts, tools and techniques that really, truly WORK. If one cannot find the value in eliciting criteria, heart to heart communication, rapport, framing a sales negotiation or booking (much like a magic or mentalism piece with a coherent beginning, middle and powerful ending), speaking with powerful/inspirational words instead of weak/insecure verbiage and other techniques that have been proven time and time again to facilitate deeper, more meaningful and more effective communications and outcomes between people...it is no fault of NLP, its trainers or advocates but of people like YOU who have already made up their mind by replacing experience with opinion. I refuse to take anything at face value - not religion, not science, not pseudo-science, people, places or even 'things' - I put EVERYTHING to the test and find value in what WORKS. 'Thought Veil' contains what I have found to be of immense value in my work as a hypnotist, therapist and performance artist. To all, Thank you for your understanding and support. I appreciate each one of you very, very much. Kam, Seriously, I worked hard to get that poster up there Reconsider? -JF

Regarding your posting I would presume not... Anyway...continue to be amused and continue to believe in your "scientific facts"...your are right and your arguments are right...in YOUR world... BTW: I had a lot of students who started their academic career with a 100% belief in the oh-so-proven-scientific-facts. Fortunately they did learn something during their studies regarding the philosophy of science... Actually I would presume that I did a lot more scientific studies than you TK, so please do not tell me about "scientific facts" and "proving/disproving" until you have some basic knowledge in the field of the philosophy of science. Believe me I have a great extent of critic distance to theories, but for a lot of years I have seen the proven (yes proven) success of NLP interventions so please stop mentioning all your internet articles to me...I have seen the positive side of NLP...and that is MY view (it need not be yours...)

On the other hand, we have tremendous amount of tangible evidence that disprove NLP's theories and practices. |

Here's something tangible for you to prove NLP works. For the past twelve months I have been eating drinking breathing Jerome Finley.... when I wake up I eat the same breakfast (vegemite on toast with strawberry milkshake and a tiny biscuit for those interested) I meditate like him, I do some healing work (like him) and then one day I thought I would see if this NLP stuff really works and thought I would put pen to paper and do my rendition of "Thought Veil" obviously I failed miserably coz there's only ONE Jerome Finley but here's the spooky thing ..... I had huge amounts of editor, printer and computer trouble and even lost data on my computer....so there ya have it SCIENTIFIC proof that NLP does work !!!!!
Jerome as can be seen above I trully know how hard you worked on getting that poster up there but I have decided my son should have it so you will be eternally immortalized like a messianic figure in our home Nathan ..... Get real dude you hog too many Rome posters as it is, show your son how to practice some good socialist values and share your wealth....send me one, you must share....I don't have one any more coz my son won't give me "his" poster back to me....

Excerpt of a hook of song here in the States that was popular back in the 80's. That excerpt was put in a shirt. On the front of the shirt, in big bold letters, it had printed " RELAX" and on the back it had printed "Don't do it". That shirt was worn by a character in the movie 'the wedding singer' and that character is wearing the shirt and tells another character ( who is in a stressful situation) to ' Relax! Don't do it!" ... Just triggered my memory...
