Here's the latest update. A company was found to make the cups in large quantity. It took a while for all the details to be worked out. Then they sent Sean a few to test out to make sure everything was as it should be. Well Sean just told me they turned out great and the quality of the material it's made of is very nice. So now the large quantity is being made.
I just wanted to let everyone know what's going on. I'm not going to specify any time it'll be ready because I really don't know exactly yet. But I do know it's one step closer now. In a way I'm glad it took a little longer because it gave Sean and I more time to experiment and come up with different uses for it. Sean and I where talking and I was thinking that the DVD could be sort of broken down into section of uses for it. For example one for chop cup type routines. As you saw in the video's some amazing and clean vanishes, productions and transformations (Of the ball) can be done. So it'll teach variety of vanishes, productions, color changes, penetrations, transformation (Such as small ball to jumbo or different colored ball). Personally I like to use a dollar bill instead of a ball. Because I do a joke when I ask to borrow a bill then turn the cup around and they see the word "TIPS" on the side. But that's just a routine I've been performing with it. But you can use just about any small object you want in place of the ball. Oh, and I think it'll also come with something else that's very neat for the ball. I won't give away details but it's some neat stuff and I'm finding other magic uses for it. For example you can make the best pea for 3 shell and pea game with it that I've ever seen. And you can make them in a variety of colors and and size you want. Like I said, I'm not absolutely sure if it'll come with this stuff but if it doesn't it'll tell the source of it (IF you have to buy your own it's only a couple of bucks anyway). Lately I've been playing around with doing some traditional cups and balls and chop cup effects with it. For example the use of a shot glass and a silk. With the Cupwow it's even cleaner and more impossible. I haven't been able to work much with multiple cups yet because I only have one and I don't yet have the final design with will be cups that are stackable. The dice stacking that you see in the video's will be a separate item because it uses special dice. Just thought I'd keep you up to speed on it's progress. Ron Jaxon |

Ron,
The temptation, when exceptional technological solutions are invented, is to rely too much on the new principle. Why not take a few C&Bs specialists like Michael Ammar, Bill Palmer, Antonio Romero and/or Kent Gunn, Johnny Thompson... and ask them what they would do to take advantage of the possibilities of such a marvel. This would not only be a smart marketing move but would also help the invention to find its place in the present technique for the effect. It would ensure it a durable life and mark a milestone in the history of C&Bs. A too hasty demo satisfies a few magicians of the inner circle but may ultimately kill the discovery. It would be sad.

That's a good idea Lawrence. Thanks for the suggestion.

...building on Lawrence's idea, what might other types of magicians use it for (e.g., billet switch)?

Yes, I was playing around with something like that too. Such as putting a prediction under the cup and at the end it matches. Or put a one dollar bill under the cup for safe keeping. When you lift the cup back up and remove the bill from the table. You can make it turn into another bill or anything you can palm really. You can do some amazingly clean color changes with it so that alone presents a lot of possible ways it can be used.
I came up with a cool pepper to salt with it. You pour a pile of pepper on the table. Cover it with the cup then when you lift the cup again it's turned into a pile of salt. You can also use it like a chop cup for it has a chop cup gimmick in it as well. I use this for the final load. So it can be loaded in there way before the reveal. Ron Jaxon |

Keep in mind that I'm not the one manufacturing them so I'm waiting just like you all are (Even though I have my prototypes). So even though I do know why it's been delayed. I really don't know or have any control over when it will be available. I'll just say that "Something" is going on and as soon as that "Something" is over with then this will be the first thing completed and made available. Sorry I can't share more then that. But trust me, there is a good reason it's taking longer then originally planned.
The price I don't for sure yet either but I'm guessing about the $100 range. That will include the DVD that'll have lots of moves, routines and ideas with it. Don't quote me on that price but that's my best guess going by our discussions. But like I said, I'm not manufacturing them so I'm not sure exactly how much. With the new design being stackable there might be special package prices for multiple cups. That's something I'm anxious to test out. Using multiple ones. I've played around with more then one of the prototypes and some neat moves can be done. But my prototypes aren't stackable so I'm sure that'll make it even better. Ron Jaxon |

Here's the latest scoop.
Sean has informed me that he has a large number of the cups now but they don't have the gimmicks in them yet. Some of you may know that he has a court case coming up. As I'm sure you can understand that's going to be where most of his attention will be until it's over. So as soon as that's over the cups will be released. Just keeping you in the loop. Ron Jaxon |

Let's hope YM doesn't sue over CupWow because it is so amazing. Haha..
Anyhow, CupWOW looks pretty sick. Can it be done with monkey fist balls? Forgive me if it has been asked before.

I just got back from spending 4 days at Sean's, finishing up the DVD. I know it kept getting delayed. I'm sure some of you know why. But, the only thing that needs to be done now is to edit the DVD and make enough of the CupWows to release it. So, it will be available within 2 weeks.
As I'm typing this, Sean is compiling a new demo video of some of the stuff we shot for the DVD, and it'll be posted sometime tonight or tomorrow. I'm excited because, up until now, the only thing we've really shared on the demo videos is the dice stacking. Well, I posted that bad quality webcam video in this discussion doing a few chop cup type moves with one of the prototypes. But, the videos we shot will show a lot more of that. Things like very visual vanishes and productions of the ball. You know how with a chop cup you have to "pretend" to dump the ball out of the cup into your hand? Well, with CupWow, it actually falls out of the cup and really does land in your hand. Yet, it can instantly vanish from your hand. It's hard to explain how clean it looks. Of course, I've practiced it in front of the mirror, but seeing myself do the moves on a video from spectator point of view was even surprising to me. Anyway, I'm talking to much. I'm prouder of this one than any magic product I've worked on. I was talking about this, too. Cups and balls is pretty much known as the oldest pieces of magic in history. Yet, not much has changed with it in all these years. I think the last real advance, other than some amazing sleight of hand moves, would be the chop cup that I know of. Kind of hard to explain, but it's a good feeling to be sort of taking a new step with cups and balls. I just wanted to say that it's almost ready. I'll post that new video as soon as it's online. Looking forward to seeing this one in the flesh! Will it be in shops, or online only? Looks like a great innovation!
