Hi guys,
Still new to the Café so help me if I am going wrong with my posting style. I recently bought a Schoolcraft Flipper coin on ebay. Its a walking liberty and looks fantastic but I seem to have snapped one of the el....cs. Can someone help me out regarding repairs? I am quite proficient and am actually a magic craftsman myself but I don't want to run the risk of damaging the delicate workings any further. Many thanks, Pete

Heat the water with the coin in the pot... not too hot, but hot enough so it begins bubbling. Use a tong or spoon to fish out the coin -- BE CAREFUL because it should be hot -- and use a towel to handle it. Quickly, while it's still hot, use a razor blade to separate the gimmick (it should be easy because the glue is hot). Once separated, clean out the glue remnants and dry the coin. Now just replace the el***ic and glue it back together ^_^ Some people use double sided tape because it's quicker to repair... I actually use a little of both (tape helps create an even surface, but causes a portion of the coins surface to be slightly higher). Good Luck, Kyle |

I always use double sided tape (from Scotch), and this is thin, so the coins will not be noticeably higher.
I clean up inside the s**ll with spirits before I replase the gimmick. It's a three minutes job. -Morten- |

I want to thank you all for your detailed response to my query. I also managed to get hold of Dean Dill and Jamie Schoolcraft and both were very helpful.
I guess this is the level of service you get when you buy quality magic props. Thanks again for making me feel welcome here.
