Curtis...yes doing something natural (and timely) is important.
Timely for the effect..not reaching for your pocket watch! I like the line used by Woody Allen(not for magic). I use a similar one when a clock is not available at the venue. Harris (sticking with the allotted time/especially when other acts follow) deutsch

I second the Workeroo. Also, check out Michael Vincent's video for Rhapsody in Silver and other mysteries. Very nice.

I don't ditch much at all, I guess that would be a sort of non-ditch or no ditch necessary. In my use of Liwag Subtlety and Quick Pitching, I have had little need to ditch coins and prefer to use the strong deception I create as to them just not being there anymore and leave it at that.

Recently iv adapted more and more ditching. iv been playing with the old hook coin ditch a lot with borrowed and/or ungimmicked coins, via lynetta welches "hoo coin". the perception or deception of cleanless is always useful and many times all that is needed but someone times just one or 2 truly "clean" moment where you are very open strengthens the times when you are not.

I used to do a routine in which I went to the pockets seven times. The routine worked because each trip was motivated and because the routine stayed way ahead of any steals or ditches and it had plenty of aquitments.

I use this holdout because it insures that on the initial production and the last ditch, my 3CM is safely secured. It works great! Sammy

I`ve always liked the idea of getting rid of coins, or most anything else, by doing the old juggling gag. While standing, bring your arm up, cock it back behind your ear, similar to a catcher`s peg, and balance the coins/objects (gim or ungim) on the bottomside of your forearm at the elbow. Swiftly bring your arm down catching coins/objects in midair in your cupped hand.Show that you caught them succesfully. After a couple of times do same thing but let the momentum of your swing bring your hand briefly behind your back and toss the coin/ object into your other hand behind your back.Bring hand that is supposed to contain objects back up and showing Bam! their gone! Meanwhile ditching on the other side away from your body leaning diagonally forward & over, as Irfaan suggested in an earlier post.

To me 'ditching' implies you might need it later, while 'dumping' is final. I use 'Idle' a lot, just keeping an object out of perception for a while as I go about doing other things. For practice, try keeping a coin hidden from others all day while working, shopping, cooking, etc., but always ready to be produced "on call." Most of this can be accomplished by just knowing how to change hands secretly in a number of ways.

Naturally -- and many homemade variations, but they don't work on a nude beach, and retrieval is sometimes awkward. In Medieval garb it is easy to have pouches, folds and tucks all over, but bib overalls are kinda limiting ;-).
Since I like rolled up sleeves that is a good restng place also.

Here's a video with a few fun ditches:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DHMHL15P9dY The first is a jacketless topit. I ensure a wide "pocket" by unbuttoning the bottom button and taping an extra button to the outside, to make everything look normal. The second is an age-old pants cuff ditch. This takes considerable "aim" when wearing jeans! Dress pants are nice because it just slides right in. The third is an application of the breast pocket ditch that I've never seen before. Enjoy!

Nice, I like the timing on the ditches. The last pitch has been done before, but I don't think it's been published.
Are cuffs back in style? That would be good, I've always liked that technique. Had to replace with a magnet on my...in my wallet pocket.

All I can say is WOW! That had to be the jerkiest routine ever. I hate to criticise but the timing of everything went from slow (palms) to realy fast (ditches) I would work in either speeding up the palms or slowing down the ditches. Also, the toss to the left hand took your left arm "out of frame" too far and looks fishy.
Why does coin magic make my head hurt!?!

Thanks for the comment, but if you watch without magician eyes, everything moves at a very fluid speed. Lay people should not see palms or ditches and the ditches were timed to be as far removed from the vanish as possible. I'm not trying to be critical of your criticism, and I thank you for it... however, I believe you are wrong in your assessment.
That aside, I'd love to see some of your work if you have any filmed.
