Hey folks,
My winter plan is to add a LOT more Demo Videos on our website. Every new release will have a demo video from this point on and I have a few almost ready to go of some older products. Hang in there as I am trying to catch up with the times. Thanks Chance

These are great props but half of what you sale is out of stock. Are you going to be making more of them?

Hi Shawn,
If you read the post on our website in the "About Us" section, it gives an explanation of why we do not have many items in stock. Here it is for everone's information "PLEASE NOTE: We specialize in Custom Built Magic. Our production capabilities are limited as we are only a few of us manufacturing these quality effects. Given this, we simply cannot keep them in stock as hard as we try. If you join the Pre-Order/Interested List, you will have FIRST DIBS to make a purchase when the products are available. Just send us an Email indicating the item you are interested in. You will be notified when production nears completion. There is NO need to Pre-Pay to be on the list! Payment will be due before shipping only." Sure I could get more employees...been there, done it. I could not withstand the quality control issues and all the other headaches that come with employees. There are great people that have worked for us but in the end, it takes me away from creating and manufacturing...and I am simply a crappy manager. It is the nice guy in me that makes it tough Thanks and I hope this helps you understand our business situation. Chance

It's interesting that in the video clip posted by KevinR the magician is doing the wolf's chicken sword, and the kids are all busy picking up the cards and miss the ending of the effect. What do other's do about this?

Another reason I would love to see more presentation videos of wolf props.. I agree a long time ago in galaxy far away it wasn't needed.
But when there are Demos out for $5 packet tricks why can't items running $500 or more take the time to create a video? If all the time, energy and logic is put into making a great effect lets see it presented? |

It was extremely dry, painfully slow, lots of dead time, painfully few laugh points, no interaction with the audience at all, too much fidgeting around with the props. To me the fact that there's no interaction with the audience at all tells me it was an early effort. Actaully the props themselves are responsible for slowing the routine down quite a bit. Pulling out two cans just to get 1 small laugh "my original cell phone" was not worth the slow-down in the routine. I'm sure Josh does a much better job now but from my perspective it's too many props, and ones that are not even funny, for a routine like this. The props are there to get laughs but they almost don't. Plus those are the only laughs in the routine and the first one comes painfully far into the routine. Mostly it's just chuckles. This is a poster child for the memorable quote.... "With every box you bring out your price goes down" I hope this is not a yardstick for what any of you would consider even close to acceptable in any venue. "Speed it up a little, add a couple more jokes, and a little more energy" are far from what's needed to fix this. I'm sure Josh would agree and he's probably way past this now.

Kevin have you posted your versions of Wolf props on YouTube yet?
Instead of hoping for other people to give you their material on video for you to use why not spend some time with this video clip and come up with corrections, additions, what to remove, to make this one better. That would be a good exercise and help get you on your way to being creative. You'll know you're on your way when your brain tells you.... "I don't want to see anyone else's version of this right now.. I'm on a roll, here!!!" I'll start: 1. No interaction with the audience. After the cell phone is acquired he never uses the audience in any way. How can this be changed? How can he keep the audience engaged after he has his spectator up on stage with the phone? There's one obvious answer to this right in the canned patter. 2. The attempt to wrap the cord around the spectator didn't work. How do you correct that. 3. Shoestring er, Fiber Optics cable got no laugh at all Could be funny. How do you fix it? 4. Where can he get some laughs early on in the routine? There are only about 4 or 5 laugh points in the entire routine. That's less than 1 per minute. About 1 per 90 seconds. This is obviously a comedy routine. Ya gotta do a LOT better than that.

Let's talk about the shoestring, er, fiber optics cable.
Will that ever get a big laugh? No. Why? Because it sounds like canned patter. It is canned patter. People don't laugh at canned patter. They might chuckle politely. So how do you fix it? What could you do to get a real laugh. What if you called it a fiber optics cable first. What comes next?

I think if you put out an effect for $100-$5000 you should test it and show it value.
If you can't do that then maybe it needs more time being built and worked on. What I like was the fact the video was of someone that just learned the effect no fancy effects, smoke and mirrors I don't want to debate with you about why you don't think expensive props shouldn't have a demo. I KNOW YOU DISAGREE. Lets leave it at that. |
