Right now, at this very moment, is there a blade guard on your table saw?

(If you don't own a table saw, you can substitute scroll saw.)

No. I got the saw from my dad and it didn't have one. I have the manual and the saw guard was optional at the time so I guess he never bought it. It's an 8 inch Delta/Rockwell and I am unable to locate an after market guard that will fit it.

here is a story about what they are for:http://www.sawmillcreek.org/showthread.php?t=10529

Anyone used a tile saw, water based? Those things are crazy, cuts right through tile but not fingers...

I cover the blade with my fingers.

Safety first.
Magic is doing improbable things with odd items that, under normal circumstances, would be unnessecary and quite often undesirable.

Being an avowed Darwinist I believe blade guards and most other safety equipment are holding mankind back by not allowing ue to properly evolve.

Mine is on, and I hate it. It sticks, jams, twists and often mucks up my cuts. BUt I have never been cut by the thing.

Yes.

Currently looking into after-market options, since I'm thinking of upgrading my saw, and want to be able to use a guard even when making non-through cuts or using a crosscut sled.

What a bunch of wimps!

God gave you ten fingers for a reason.

After you cut off the first couple you get far more respectful of the blade Smile

Besides after losing the first one that Vernet Sixth Finger becomes just that much more deceptive.

I'll bet cutting off the top of ones thumb with a band saw would mean you'd be able to get a bigger silk in your thumb tip too.

Yes, but I can lift it up and out of the way, or completely remove it from the table, if necessary.

What table saw are you looking at buying?
