I have had a number of people who have seen my act or lectures or read my books ask me to put out a book dealing specifically with my routining and scripting. In other words, they have expressed an interest in seeing what effects I do, where I put them, and what I say.
So I would have a couple of sets from my strolling or table-hopping repertoire, a stand-up act, and maybe a kids show. The book would describe each act, start to finish, from my introductory remarks to my sign-off. While I have had a couple dozen people ask me about this, I have to wonder if there would be much of a market for this sort of thing. I had previously considered doing something similar: a book of patter for a number of relatively standard effects. People could use the patter as-is or use it as a jumping-off point or source of inspiration for creating their own, as opposed to, "Here I have a coin. I place it in my left hand..." This sort of book used to be more common, but you almost never see them anymore. So, assuming it was a well-written, well-produced, fairly priced book or ebook, are either of these concepts something that would interest YOU--would YOU buy it or recommend it?

I would be interested in a book from you about routining and scripting. I think it would be good with examples.
A book on patter as you describe not as much. Craig

Personally I don't think there are enough books on scripting and routining acts.
If you have the money, get the book printed by a professional book printer as opposed to one of the print on demand outfits like Lulu and its ilk. You'll have some crates of books in your garage but you'll make a much, much better gross margin.
I'm selling my hardcover autographed limited edition copy of Jerome Finley's "Thought Veil"

Actually, if I do it, it'll be an ebook. Profit margin is MUCH higher, no shipping costs, and if it doesn't sell, I'm not out thousands of dollars!

Scott,
After reading your thoughts on your blog, I'd be very interested in a book about routining and scripting. Thank you for your thoughts, Tom

Scott,
I've got several of your books and know that you put a lot of thought into presentation. In fact, currently, that is what I look for. If you put together a book on presentations for standard effects, I'd buy it. I don't know if you are talking about scripts, premises, jokes/bits of business, or some combination, but I'm sure there is a market. |

I'd say I'm talking about a combination thereof, tntjr.
