Assuming it is, they lost me instantly and irrevocably with the classic introductory "How Would You Like To..." in attention-grabbing red, followed by that old strong-arm standby, "Dear Friend." I don't even know what the name is for that particular school of web sales tactic, but to me it could not scream "snake oil pitchman" any louder if it had a bullhorn hooked up to an arena-sized sound system. I didn't read the rest of the page, but was it full of carefully italicized phrases explaining the wonders that will befall me when I buy this product? Now I'm almost curious enough to go back and look... nah, not really.
Every problem contains the seeds of its own solution. Unfortunately every problem also contains the seeds of an infinite number of non-solutions, so that first part really isn't super helpful.

Hehehehe, I love reading Magic Café people, some of the negativety is brilliant!
Anyway, just to clear up a few points... a) The Academy has nothing to do with undergroundmagicsecrets, new black playing cards or instant downloads for the latest double lift b) The Academy is NOT a new trick or the latest product etc etc c) To be a member, there is no commitment although there will be the option to take part in some of the advanced paid-for features and services d) I'm glad someone brought up Marlo, Vernon, Kaps etc. Actually, one of the aims of the Academy is to ressurect these teaching and this material through digitalising it and introducing it to people who only know Jay Sankey, 1 trick DVD's and whatever is posted on Youtube, illegal torrent sites etc. More info coming soon |

So your going to teach other peoples published work? taught by whom? unqualified internet youtube magicians?
sorry to convey so much "negativety" but I think everyone is about tired of the whole "mystique" that has been recently been used to hype some unknown magic product or service. if you don't want people guessing or making claims then its time to drop the dang ball. |

Hey Lee!
Read Jay Sankeys Beyond Secrets! Chances are that it will be both a revelation and a new era to you.... Tasteless to put him down in that way, it certainly says more about you than him. At least inform yourself before doing that. I bet people will get more out of sticking to Jay Sankey than jumping on your spaceship.

If I understand you correctly, no one else has anything to offer to the magic or entertainment community then he. As you stated I bet by reading Jay Sankeys Beyond Secrets a person will be transform into another era. But, I bet there are other books out there that can be said to do the same thing. Do you know any other marketing people other than Jay Sankey? If not, I suggest that you look up stuff that has been done by other people, some of which are no longer with us. Maybe this New Era really have started already YEARS AGO. But the kids of today who only know of that Criss Angel guy who by the way LOVES to cheat on his TV programs, are only seeing a small picture of what is REALLY out there to be learn. I do not know about this Lee fellow, but I still have my shinny space suit on sitting here watching Buck Rogers on TV. Oh, I bet you don’t even know who Buck Rogers was do you? Buck was the NEW ERA back then! LOL Ray |

"keep your words soft and sweet cuz one day you may have to eat 'em" Most here doubt they'll be needing salt and pepper any time soon. Disparaging Jay Sankey as part of the marketing plan speaks volumes about not only the principals behind this project, but also about the IQ being applied in its creation. Expectations are extremely low at this point, mostly due to the efforts to date from the creators themselves. |

All kidding aside, this new site is geared toward newbie’s and that is cool. Old farts like me have already done our homework and created ways to make our entertainment pay.
So looking at it in this light, I can see that maybe information given might help the kids that are starting out, but isn’t that also what all of those GREAT marketing books and courses are for? Ray |

Its NOT geared to newbies at all. There is something for everyone whether you are new at magic or have been in it for many years. Why cant you guys just wait without having to mock this without even knowing the project! It isn't being held from you because they just feel like it. It WILL BE coming and you will see it. You cannot please everyone, especially those who make pre-assumptions based on nothing. I know as some of you said that hype is getting hold but to be honest, the release is taking longer than expected. Its not just being held back for hype. Just wait....

You cannot please everyone, especially those who make pre-assumptions based on nothing. Nothing is exactly what you've delivered to date on your declaration of a "new era in magic" Are you surprised that folks are calling you out on failure to deliver?.........you shouldn't be. If you didn't want this kind of attention, you might have considered saying nothing until you had something to actually market. |

I mean, look at their marketing as it is NOW! It is something like a 10 year old would do. They come on the Café and talk hype with nothing to BACK IT UP and throw ONE name around as if to impress us. The ERA isn't completed and seems to be half baked right now. So we have to really ask ourselves, do we really what to be a part of something that CAN"T even get out of the starting gate without tripping over their own feet? I don't like to say things like this about something, but what other IMPRESSION do we have? The impression of being amateurish is MADE by the very ones who have created it! Simply by the way this NEW ERA has been brought to our attention by the creators only leaves me with ONE conclusion, and that is to not walk, but RUN away from it. Ray |

A New Era...
Every great magician, past, present and future shuffles cards exactly 3 times. Anymore than that is a waste. So I figured that "A New Era" must be code for something...so I shuffled the letters around 3 times and think I have found the answer to this greatest of all mysteries... 1st shuffle and we get: Arena We (doesn't mean much but we still have 2 shuffles to go!) Which is shuffled further to: Near Awe (the time for a new era is fast approaching! And now I know Im on the right track) And for our 3rd shuffle, we get: A New Ear! Obviously this can only mean one thing. Remember a few years ago, when an ear was grown on the back of a labrat? Well this MUST be a magical version of that plot! Growing ears anywhere you want! Just think of the possibilities... Torn and Restd ear... Torn and Restd ear with color change ending... Imagine if this had been invented when Van Gough was alive... |
