This question is for anyone who owns Racherbaumer's booklet on The Ascanio Spread. On pages 1-2, Racherbaumer references several photographs that are to be studied along with the description he provides. The problem is that I can't find the photographs he references! Is this a mistake, or are they there somewhere and I'm just not seeing them?
Thanks. |

Check and see if they're behind the first two pages but in front of the last two.

Yeah, I know it's kind of a dumb question, but I've made dumb mistakes before!

When Arturo was alive I showed him a variant to his spread which was actually a four cards fan. When you get to the double, move your right thumb one quarter of an inch up around the right bottom corner of the card under the left thumb and push the double back in the fan using the left thumb as fulcrum. This makes the card under the left thumb to move (actually rotate) last and you end up with a four cards fan. Arturo said very kind things about this variant of his move which suplies a completely different feel with the spectators. The feel he wanted to convey is that the four cards are only four independant cards, the feel I wanted to convey is that I was freely fanning four cards.

Nice handling. FYI, when I learned the "Ascanio Spread" I was lucky, it was from Ascanio himself. He conveyed a facet to me, that the cards should look like MICE running about.
Shortly after, I returned to the U.S.A. and stopped off in Chicago and visited Ed Marlo and showed the spread to him. He had never seen or even heard of it!

Those who haven't should pick up copies of the recent Paginas translations of Ascanio's complete works. Exquisite card work, much of which appears in English for the first time.
