No matter how cool what is coming is, and it is cool indeed, the Magnum is one of a kind. I'm not going to repeat all the accolades I gave the Magnum method when I got my first one (you can look those up!) but we are talking about the end of a product line that cannot be replaced. This isn't a matter of Rick retiring a product as a way of moving new products; he literally has no choice. If he did, I'm sure Rick would sell Magnums until he retires!
I will comment about the appearance of the Magnum one last time, simply because lately I've received so many compliments on how sharp looking it is. I have changed my private practice location, requiring new cards to be printed up and I use the Magnum to, among other things (:)), hold my psychotherapy practice business cards. Naturally when you change location and phone number, you need to get new cards out to people fast and on a regular basis. Which means I'm constantly utilizing my Magnum and it is spending a lot more time in view. And people do notice and comment on what a nice looking wallet it is. That matters to me on many levels. I have my back up on order and I can't imagine anyone not doing the same. I wonder how many of the final batch went to folks like myself that want to insure they will have a Magnum for years to come? |

I should get another. I love the hideout, but the magnum p**k - I have killed sooooo many times with this to a devastating degree. It's unrivalled. A shame it's gonna be off the market. However, the sidearm...

On 2009-06-14 11:51, shield wrote: I understand about buying TWO to have one for LATER down the road. But, this IMHO isn’t good thinking when it comes to LEATHER goods. I also was toying with the idea of buying two so that I would have a NICE looking one a few years down the road when the first one shows wear. But, now that I think about it, the 2nd one would more than likely look bad also. The reason that I say this is because I bought a Ring Flight Many, Many, Many years ago. It was in the early 80’s and have used it only around 15 times. It has been sitting/resting in a box for all these years. I pulled it out about a year ago to look at it and was shock at how AGED it looked. So if a person buys two of the same items made from leather at the same time, then both will age together. So for the very reason that the item was bought, is now lost because of ageing. It can’t be helped; leather will age with time, it would be much better to just buy a NEW one when you need it, because it would be newer leather. It may not be exactly what you want, but you just have to deal with it. Maybe I had a bad Ring Flight, I don’t know. I do know that I NEVER kept a normal wallet for more than a year when used as an everyday item because it never held up, and torn. The nature of leather is what it is, but we have hope with ALWAYS finding and having the best wallets made for our line of work and play, and that is OUTLAW EFFECTS! I am sure that OUTLAW will be around as long as RICK is around. His company is unmatched in the world of mentalism and no other company comes close to Outlaw effects. I am looking forward to the new wallet that is coming out, because a little birdie told me about it. And this little something really makes it cool! I dislike saying this but I am becoming a wallet junky! I have the Prestige (card case) the Hideout and SOON I will have the Magnum. Rick, you may need to start a wallet addiction forum for all us JUNKIES! Best Ray |

You may be right, but last month I pulled out a wallet I was given as a gift around 1978, and it looks brand new. Perhaps the quality of the leather has something to do with it? Tony |

I've never known a leather wallet (kept in a box) to age without any use. I have a few here that I have had for years, and they are in mint condition!
Anyways, top wallet. May have to grab another. Luke |

As Tony suggested maybe I had cheap groundhog leather or something. I am SORRY for my post now! I'll take it BACK if I could! LOL
Maybe the leather on my Ring Flight aged because of being in contact with OLD keys and a metal reel. This may have played a BIG part in its demise! Because now that I think about it, I have a La Paul wallet that I bought around the same time and it still looks new. I didn’t think about my La Paul when the Ring Flight pop into my bald head! But, on the bright side; I have a Right Flight for sale, only used 15 times! LOL Darn, now I am starting to rethink about getting a 2nd one! Darn it. … Where is my kid’s piggy bank? Ray |

This will make my collection complete. I believe I have - and use - every wallet Outlaw makes, plus some back-ups. Why do I get the feeling there's another in the works.
Sigh. Posted: Jun 15, 2009 10:08pm Is there a 12-step program for Outlaw wallets? I just talked to Roth - Roth always responds to emails. Always! - and just arranged to buy a backup. Wallets are my bread and better and are a staple of my walk-around. Even on parlor gigs, I wind up doing walk-around. I don't worry because I always have an Outlaw with me. I'm torn here. I'm sorry to see this line end but at the same time, those foolish enough not to jump on this will just have to moan and groan. I'm not selling mine. It pays the rent. |
