I am sure that side by side that one could compare the cutting edges of both scissors and find negligible difference between cuts and cutting. Now, I am also sure if need be, that silver can be had. But, the object of cutting is not to distract with a shiny silver object but to point the attention to the rope and give a quick clean un-distracted cut. Your hand is covering most of the "shiny classy" scissors anyway. Therefore I submit, that color is a preference and not indicative of class or quality. I will say that, I have a pair of "Slydini" scissors identical to those of DBaronian. Black handles, silver blade. Has the Slydini gimmick" welded on. Black handles, not silver.

My last post was not intended as seen. Silver or black is indeed a matter of preference. Thanks!

I have searched and found nothing on a pair of scissors I'd like to learn about. Does anyone here have any experience with Bazar De Magica's Cut No Cut Scissors as well as the other three they sell in their set of four, Blade Away, Falling Blade, and Blocked Blade?

How about the pair of scissors he uses that are given to a spectator that have handles at both ends. Does anyone know that source?

It is pretty easy to convert a regular pair of sissors into a pair where the finger guard is either inside or outside the loop. It is a nice littel additon to a any pair of sissors that adds to a rope routine.

My scissors just arrived. I bought two pairs.. I purchased it about a month ago from dany baronian. Great service !! To be honest, I have no experience with scissors. but these scissors are quite heavy with black metal handles. It feels right on your hands.
it is very sharp and I love it. Needless to say that cutting a coreless rope is easier. my mom gave me a tip that I will pass for you guys, that I shouldn't drop my scissors to the floor cause it might damage the scissors somehow. also if you are using a scissors to cut a rope, then use that scissors specifically only to cut a rope.. do not cut paper/leather/cloth using the same scissors, I'm not sure why. |

I learned much the same from my mother, a talented amateur seamstress, and my grandmother (her mother), who was a professional draperer. Scissors used for cutting cloth (and by extension, rope)need to be quite sharp to avoid binding and "chewing" the faabric rather than slicing it, and cutting paper or cardboard dulls the blades very quickly. Dropping the scissors loosens them, again causing binding; the blades need to slide along each other in a tight fit in order to cut cleanly. |

I haven't done the C&R Rope for years, but when I did I used the cheap "cut through anything" scissors. The can be used to cut through virtually anything including metal as thick as a penny. They can be picked up in many stores for $5-$10.
