Quick question: is the exp'd (you know what I mean, right?) half [ included in Johnson's Hopping Half set heads or tails?
Just not sure if it might be available either way, or only one way (and if so, which way?). Thanks in advance.

My Johnson walking half hopping half set [ is tails. In another set made with 1968 halves the [ is heads, but I do not know if the set is from Johnson. Images of the modern sets seem to show the [ as tails.

Had my Kennedy set for 19 years, and it was tails before I sold it (well still tails after I sold it too).
Bought a Johnson version in Walkers... and it is tails as well. |

I have two sets, both tails. I thought that there was a thread in the Café that indicated that Johnson made sets of the heads persuasion as well.

Johnson does make it with heads as well, you don't see it often, but I bought mine that way. Tails seems to be the more popular.

I have a Johnson set that I bought in the seventies that is heads. I hadn't seen a tails set until recently.

It's always been my understanding that they usually make the gimmicks of most coin sets in tails because with some gimmicks it is more easily disguised but even more importantly to also avoid showing a date on the coins, which makes it harder to match with any ungimmicked coins you may be using. Especially if you are using a borrowed coin as part of the routine. An observant spectator may notice the dates are different if you switch one out or have it vanish and reappear somewhere else, so using tails you don't have to worry about that.

I've had two sets, one I've lost it somehow, and I've gotten another one, one's head, and another one's tail. Either way I don't think there's a difference to lay people, but if there's a specific one you want to get, write a letter to them. I think they will be willing to help you to get the "head" or "tails"
