Are his shows still canceled because of his foot? Might book tickets to Vegas soon..

Thanks for the update.

If he is retiring, I'm glad I saw him one more time in March. Great show, but the theatre was nearly empty. It seats 1200 and there were maybe 350 or so. If there was ever a time to take off because of an injury, that was it. He's still very young. If he's done at the Monte Carlo, it'd be nice to see him tour.

I've heard rumors that he's being courted by someone else. We'll see.

'...Rumours!, rumours!, rumours!

I will add one more to the mix, although this is from a reliable, big-name source that I cannot quote.

As far back as three-to-four years ago, when I was told of this, Lance had allegedly had enough.

As we all know, like the Mafia, once magic is in your blood, you are never 'out of it' and just walk away.

I doubt you'll never hear anything from Lance again, should he 'retire', but from what I've been told, he's tired and a little bored...and who can blame him? Maybe this mood has now changed.

Only time will tell and we must all allow him to do what he wants to without negative criticism and judgmental and opinionated comments.

He has his place in Magic History and I have seen him perform several times since his Hacienda days.

Maybe he wants to go out on a high-note, or just take a break from a grueling schedule.

All best wishes to him, whatever he chooses.

I think that he is one person who could completely retool his show successfully and start again with a renewed vigor for magic. This might sound sort of strange, but I have always thought he was one of the greatest magic performers of all time, but I never particularly liked his show.

This brings up a thought I have. Do any of you performers get bored with your acts? Doing the same act day in and day out would, for me, getting boring. It's akin to working at GM or Ford. Putting on a front fender of a vehicle for 15 years would make me lose my mind. There is no thought that goes into it.

I would be interested to hear from some of you on this subject.

I've seen Lance's show several times. He's completely on auto-pilot. Every step, every line, completely on auto-pilot. That's something that doesn't happen in close-up. People will react and say different things to you, set you up for lines etc. No 2 performances are exactly the same. The last 3 times I've seen Lance, it was a great show, but it might as well have been a video replay.

There's a great interview of Steve Martin last week prior to his first banjo concert/show (he just released a new banjo album - a very good album I might add). He was asked if he's nervous about performing in a different light than his fans are used to seeing - that is, he is expected to execute his banjo playing in a professional way for paying customers. He stated that, and I'm paraphrasing to some degree, to get to the point where you don't think about the technique anymore it really has to become kind of boring for you. So he wasn't nervous because he's worked through all the "what if's" and technical challenges, now he just had to go out and play it in front of people - which on a technical level, can be boring. The challenge is to make it fresh on a performing level.

Anyway, regarding Lance, I would love to see him tour now. A tour would put him in front of more people and probably breath some fresh air into his performances.

Doug,

Remember where you saw or read that Steve Martin article? I'd love to see it.
